Secrets of Thrones and/or promised shit
For the nerds of Martin’s universe, there is unlikely to be anything new here, but for the majority of ordinary viewers who have not touched the original source, I will probably rip off a couple of covers. As promised, there will be no spoilers – all sudden discoveries and revelations will concern only the events that took place in the series from the first to the fourth season.
And since we’re not having a night stream here, and I’m sober, conscious spoilers are prohibited. Knowledgeable readers may discuss further developments, but only using the appropriate tag. Mentioning the events of the 5th and subsequent seasons in the open will result in punishment.
Theory one:Syrio Forel and Jaqen H’ghar, also known as the Faceless One, are the same person.
Remember the funny “dance teacher” who actually turned out to be a fencing coach and taught Eddard Stark’s youngest daughter in the first season? Hope. Well, they probably haven’t forgotten the clever assassin with a fashionable hairstyle. However, here are some photos for you just in case:
As you know, the Lannisters slaughtered all the Stark people when they captured Eddard and placed the “popular favorite” Joffrey Baratheon on the throne. And yet, the “death” of Sirio Forel remained behind the scenes, despite Martin’s manic passion for a detailed description of the murders, which was reflected on the screen. A whole detachment of golden cloaks led by the knight of the royal guard Merrin Trant went to apprehend Arya Stark, but they all effectively “hit the hat” with a wooden sword, and by the time the girl left, Trout and Trant were left alone. It’s no secret that the knight survived and subsequently enraged the viewer more than once with his presence on the screen, beating Sansa Stark on Joffrey’s orders and showing off to the dwarf. However, this is not at all proof of the death of the “dance teacher”.
Because the very circumstances of Jaqen H’ghar’s appearance speak in favor of this theory. We quickly find out that the Faceless Ones are perhaps the most dangerous guys in this universe. There are few of them and they work impeccably, leaving neither a trace nor suspicion. How did it happen that one of them – perhaps the best – ended up in the dungeon of King’s Landing and then allowed himself to be put in a cage and taken to the Night’s Watch? Logic should dictate that this is hardly possible. Unless he wanted it himself.
They have similar speech patterns, including parasitic phrases (such as "just so"), they both refer to themselves in the third person, they are both from Braavos, and they both call Arya "boy" at first. I think this won’t be a spoiler (at least not a spoiler for the plot) – the cult of the Faceless Ones worships the God of Death, as it soon turns out. Which is not very surprising. Now remember the phrase of Syrio Forel: “There is only one god. His name is Death. What do we say to the God of Death??"..
By the way, after being freed from the cage, Jaqen tells Arya that she owes three names to the Red God, which somewhat contradicts the Faceless Men’s religion and makes me think of a fire priestess who hangs out with Stannis Baratheon. Initially, this was most likely an oversight, but Martin justified in one of his interviews that this was intended.
In addition, at the moment https://zodiaccasinoonline.co.uk/ of parting, when Jaqen H’ghar (again) changes his face, he says “Farewell, Arya Stark,” although he could not find out her origin in any way. Faceless ideal killers, but not wizards or seers.
What are his motives?? How he really got to King’s Landing and why he drove himself into prison? To accompany Arya? Very unlikely. There are even serious doubts that her father hired him. Perhaps Eddard Stark had no idea about the real identity of Syrio Forel and actually hired him as a teacher for his daughter. It’s just that he was already second after someone who hired not Syrio at all, but Faceless. And he hired him for a completely different purpose, and rapprochement with the Starks was either part of the plan, or one of the options for achieving the task.
The faceless ones cost an insane amount of money and only engage in murder, so you need to look for the customer among the rich and living, and you need to look for the motive among the killed. By the way, did you notice that the death of King Robert while hunting could not be explained, and the Lannisters, even among their own circle, did not take responsibility.
Theory two:Master of Whisperers Varys is actually a Targaryen.
A very interesting character, don’t you think?? Unpredictable, always on his own mind, and even a eunuch, and no one trusts them.
It is extremely difficult to trace the motives of this mysterious gossip who always knows more than others. But it’s even harder to trace its origins.
However, it was he who was in cahoots with Illyrio Mopatis, who arranged the wedding of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo. It was he who asked the mad Aerys Targaryen not to open the gates of King’s Landing to the Lannisters when they broke in and carried out a massacre, during which Jaime killed the king and became the Kingslayer. It is Varys who knows all the secret passages and crevices of the Red Keep, although King Maegor ordered the execution of all those involved immediately after the completion of construction, so that no one but him would know these tunnels. Knowledge about these catacombs could only be passed on by inheritance and only to the descendants of dragon blood. How so?
And that’s not all. In one of the episodes, Varys told Tyrion Lannister the tragic story of his parting with his belongings. According to him, a certain red priest castrated him during a ritual, after which he threw everything male into the fire… and the fire answered him. A face appeared there. And there was a voice. If you still haven’t caught up, then remember the experiments of Melisandre, who explained in detail to Stannis and his first assistant the importance of royal blood for the Red God, and then demonstrated. If anyone suddenly forgot amid the bright events of the fourth season, then I will remind you: Melisandre, with the help of leeches, extracted some blood from the bastard of the former king, and then Stannis threw them into the fire with the words “Usurper Robb Stark, usurper Joffrey Baratheon, usurper Balon Greyjoy”. Following this, the Red Wedding took place, the last holiday for Robb, and soon the royal one – with a similar ending for Joffrey. Interesting coincidence, really.
Well, to complete the picture: Varys had a lot of valuable things cut off, but not his hair. He’s not naturally bald. He’s shaving. And most likely, he shaves his silver Targaryen hair. Martin already described a similar trick in the stories about Duncan and Egg, where the young guy hid his Valyrian origin in the same way.
The simplest hint will do the trick: “Varys” is a Valyrian name, very typical of the Targaryens: Aerys (Mad King), Viserys (brother of Daenerys), Rhaenys, Aenys..
It is difficult to imagine why he does not claim the throne by right of blood and for what purpose he contributed to the attempted murder of Daenerys (although he may have contributed to the disruption?), however, in the future, new evidence of his involvement in the Targaryens appears, but this would already be a spoiler, so I’ll get by. True, those who have completed Game of Thrones RPG already know… Yes, if anyone didn’t know, the plot of the game was approved by Martin and written not without his help, so it is considered quite canon.
Theory three:When Tyrion shot his father, he had already been killed by Auburn Martell.
The finale of the last (currently) season turned out to be quite epic, wasn’t it?? Why, for the whole season – two dead Lannisters and not a single Stark. Achievement!
But there is something curious about the circumstances of Tywin Lannister’s death, which is not particularly reflected in the series (yet), but is extremely clearly described in the book. As you probably noticed, shortly before the tragic death of the father of the “golden” family, the Dornish prince Oberyn Martell, a legendary fighter and expert in poisons, arrived in the capital. He arrived not at all for Joffrey’s wedding, but for the sake of revenge for the death of his sister Elia, who was married off to the son of the last king in the Targaryen dynasty, overthrown by Baratheon and Stark. She was killed during the storming of King’s Landing on the orders of Tywin Lannister.
The series left behind the scenes the “business breakfast” of Tywin and Oberyn, shortly before the latter’s duel with Grigor “The Mountain” Clegane. In the same way, what remained behind the scenes was that at the moment of death, the “mighty lion”, sorry, took a shit, although before that he had been sitting on the toilet for a long time without success. According to the book, Tyrion reluctantly drew attention to the too foul effect, and a little later (attention, mini-spoiler! – for those especially vulnerable, read from the next paragraph) at the funeral, Tywin spread a foul smell throughout the entire area and decomposed suspiciously quickly.
At the "forensic examination" on the occasion of Joffrey’s death, at Tyrion’s trial, Maester Pycelle mentions the poison "widow’s blood", which clearly has nothing to do with the poisoning of the boy. But still, the old man reveals in detail the essence of the action, they say, he clogs the intestines and does not allow a person to fertilize the toilet until he perishes from the concentration of his own poisons and waste in the body. Doesn’t remind me of anything.
Well, I think that’s enough for now for a smart ass. You can start.
