Lackland Air Force Base uses RFID to improve inventory efficiency

The Philadelphia Department of Defense Supply Center (DSCP) clothing and textile supply chain implemented an RFID monitoring system at Lackland Air Force Base to increase the speed of cargo receiving and inventory inventory, and to ensure adequate supplies of recruits.
Each inventory item uses a passive RFID chip to send a signal to a stationary or moving sensor. The department completely eliminated the labor-intensive and error-prone manual inventory and recording process.
This technology helps the U.S. military ensure that every recruit is fully equipped and has every suitable item needed in the arduous training.
Now, materials from the manufacturer to the warehouse of the defense logistics agency to Lackland are fully automatically tracked.
The Lackland Empty Car Recruit Training Base receives more than 250,000 items every week. Now, with the help of RFID, Lackland’s receipt of goods has been reduced from 4 hours to 1 hour, and regular inventory counts have also saved a few days.
