The central turnover box company uses RFID tags to track turnover boxes

The Central Turnover Box Company uses RFID technology to improve the logistics efficiency of its 3.5 million turnover boxes. Turnover box transportation is a standard practice for European flower transportation.

The Central Container Company (CC) is located in Denmark and the Netherlands and provides recyclable transportation vehicles to the gardening, retail and logistics industries. CC Turnover Box is the only standard transportation method recognized by the European flower and plant industry. A total of more than 23,000 customers use a total of 3.5 million CC containers in their logistics operations.

Central turnover box companies realize that they need to manage their turnover boxes more effectively, especially to prevent counterfeit turnover boxes of inferior quality from entering the flow tank. At the same time, the central turnover box company also realizes that they need accurate asset identification information to improve internal management and improve customer service. They chose UHF RFID technology for their “Operation Chip It” project, and cooperated with IBM to promote this project. In 2011, the Central Turnover Box Company had already identified all turnover boxes with RFID tags.

Confidex, as the RFID tag partner of Central Turnover Box Company and IBM, designed RFID tags not only to meet strict mechanical installation requirements, but also to provide reliable radio frequency performance.

Today, a central turnover box company that has applied RFID technology can easily perform anti-counterfeiting verification of its assets while well managing its logistics pool. In addition, customers in the flower and gardening industry of the Central Turnover Box Company are using this technology to optimize their logistics processes. The use of RFID technology can combine the identification code of the turnover box with the information of the loaded content, so that the receiving process is more automated.

What items do we mark?

In the Operation Chip It project, Confidex designs and provides RFID tags for the basic components of the central turnover box. This design process not only needs to meet the various requirements of RFID tags, but also needs to pass a large number of tests. The operating process of the turnover box and its wide application fields put forward specific requirements for the mechanical properties of RFID tags. In addition to durability, the customer also needs the label to be able to be installed quickly by hand without the use of any tools, such as screws, adhesives, etc. In addition, this RFID tag also requires a high level of personalization, including visual coding and high-security coding. The label designed by Confidex for the central turnover box company satisfies the above requirements well and at the same time meets the RF performance requirements of the system.

“Confidex’s diverse design and testing work in order to meet the special needs of the central turnover box company is the main reason why we chose it as a supplier.” Mikael Erthmann IBM International Business Services Executive Project Manager said. “Confidex worked closely with IBM on the entire project, overcoming every challenge, meeting every requirement, and excellently providing a suitable label for this project.
