With the maturity and wider application of RFID technology, Taiwan’s IBM announced that its Employee Welfare Committee will organize the IBM Family Day, Sports Day, and Year-end Party (Year -End Party) and other three events, the implementation of the “RFID Work-Life-Balance Passport”, from the three events on-site registration, attendance statistics, post-conference evaluation and other data, completely integrated on the back-end platform , Not only can speed up the process of activities, help understand the participation of employees in activities, but also allow employees to experience the convenience of life brought by RFID, and demonstrate the application of IBM’s innovative technology.
During the event, the staff of the IBM Welfare Committee used handheld PDA RFID readers. Each participating employee could sense within a certain range from the reader with the RFID tag attached to the back of the identification card, which not only effectively speeded up the employee registration process , And it is convenient to count the attendance rate of the event. In the picture on the left is the PDA RFID reader, and on the right is the employee identification card with RFID tags.
Huang Huizhu, deputy general manager of the human resources department of IBM Taiwan, said that in previous years, three major events including IBM Family Day, Sports Games and Year-end Party were implemented. In addition to the online registration mechanism, the others include on-site registration, attendance statistics after the event, and analysis of participants. Such matters are handled manually, which not only costs considerable manpower, the speed of the process and the accuracy of data are also difficult to control, and the quality of employee benefits cannot be improved. Huang Huizhu further explained that in order to provide employees with the most complete service, this year, the IBM Employee Welfare Committee decided to introduce RFID solutions; at the same time, it also echoed one of the five key innovation strategies proposed by IBM at the beginning of the year, through the “Original Technology Innovation Service (Lab- based Service)”, such as the research and development of RFID technology, to implement the results concretely in daily life.
IBM’s “RFID Happiness Passport” solution combines the technical expertise of Jing Technology Computer in RFID equipment, using its RFID reader (Reader), tag (Tag) hardware equipment, and the application on the back-end server is based on IBM The WebSphere intermediary software is handled by the IBM Great China Software Development Center (CSDL) team. The picture on the left is the IBM RFID happiness passport
In order to promote Work-Life Balance, and to comfort the hardworking IBM employees and the family members who support and encourage them behind their backs, the IBM Employee Welfare Committee organizes three large-scale events for IBM employees and their families each year, with the number of participants in each event. Including IBM employees and invited relatives and friends, most of them have been more than 2,000 people over the years, so statistics and analysis have become a major challenge. To this end, IBM combines the technical expertise of Jing Technology Computer in RFID equipment, adopts its RFID reader (Reader), tag (Tag) hardware equipment, and the application program on the back-end server is based on the IBM WebSphere intermediary software. The IBM Greater China Software Development Center (CSDL) team is in charge, and the software development time is about one month.
Take the “Family Day” that will be launched in Leofoo Village on May 26 as an example. IBM has set up seven check-in channels at the event check-in area, and the staff of the IBM Welfare Committee will hold a PDA RFID reader. The RFID tag affixed to the back of the identification card can be sensed within a certain distance from the reader, and the actual number of employees and relatives and friends present is recorded in the database and displayed on the computer screen at the event site. Through this innovative application, it effectively speeds up the employee registration process and facilitates the statistics of event attendance. At the same time, it also allows IBM employees to actually experience the convenient life brought by RFID. The organizer can use this system to conduct data analysis and evaluate activities. You can even understand the popularity of each activity as an important basis for review and improvement in the future.
In the 2005 DeveloperWorks Live!, IBM also introduced RFID solutions throughout the entire process. Since the Developers Conference attracts tens of thousands of industry elites every year, it aims to achieve the goal of meeting arrangements, information provision, and personnel services. For the highest efficiency, IBM will cooperate with the Information Technology Council and JingTech Computer to demonstrate high-efficiency process management from pre-registration, on-site registration, attendance statistics of each session, data provision, and post-conference evaluation and analysis. At the same time, IBM also last year Co-published a set of Taiwan’s first RFID real-time dynamic positioning system with National Taiwan University to provide more advanced asset management in important domestic industries such as medical and retail. These examples illustrate IBM’s rich experience and innovative applications in the RFID field.
