The Affiliated Hospital of Peking University School of Medicine (Peking Union Medical College Hospital) has nearly 4,000 employees in Beijing and handles more than 1.85 million outpatient cases and 48,000 inpatient cases each year. This project is in response to the country’s regulations on special and controlled drugs in China, such as diarrhea drugs, psychotropic drugs and temperature-sensitive drugs that must be monitored by MIG during the dispensing process.
Target
The project aims to improve the traceability of the entire drug circulation process, and ultimately improve the overall supervision and standards of patient safety and quality.
solution
Xinghua has developed an EPC-compatible system based on network-based RFID technology, which is composed of three main parts: a fixed station with a built-in RFID reader, an RFID handheld terminal, and an alarm system. With this system, the delivery route, drug status, handling personnel and time can be clearly observed by the system.
result
The safety of each stage of the drug dispensing process has been improved. Special medicines can be better controlled. When the tray passes through the gate with RFID function, the medicines can be confirmed more clearly and accurately. The alarm system will send an alarm (or by email or text message) for drugs that exceed the scheduled delivery time. The alarm also hinted at potential risks of the drug, such as improper handling or theft.
