The Regional Transport Agency (RTA) of Hyderabad, India announced that it will adopt a set of RFID systemTo automatically monitor the driver’s license test process and result evaluation.

The new system will first be tested on the Nagole lane (there are three test lanes for RTA). The staff buried a set of RFID readers 15 inches underground on the Nagole road, and the test taker’s vehicle will be equipped with an antenna. The system will track changes in the driving process, speed, and wrong turns in the RTA setting parameters. Test scores and candidates’ skills will be displayed in the form of charts and evaluated.

RTA often receives complaints about driving schools and motor vehicle inspectors manipulating examinations. The use of RFID systems can avoid human judgments in the tests. At the same time, fingerprints will be added to the driver’s license as another layer of assurance.

Traffic officer Raymond Peter said: “If the test results are good, we will also install RFID systems on the other two lanes.”
