Yesterday, the automatic fare collection system of Beijing Metro began to commission the whole line and will be officially put into use in mid-May. By then, Beijing subway paper tickets will completely withdraw from the stage of history.

Yesterday, reporters found in multiple subway stations that the automatic fare collection system (AFC), which had been closed until now, had lighted up lights. The “touch screen” of the automatic ticket vending machine displays the route map of the existing subway lines. The staff said that in the future, passengers can operate on these touch screens when they buy tickets. The ticket gates, which have been erected on the corridors of the station hall for nearly two months, also light up the indicator lights, and the staff are checking the stability of the gates one by one. When AFC is officially activated, passengers can swipe their cards to enter and exit the station according to the “indicating arrows” on the top of the gates.

Yesterday’s network debugging included Metro Line 1, Line 2, Line 5, Line 13, and Batong Line that have been put into operation, as well as Line 10, Olympic Branch Line and Airport Line that have not yet been opened for operation. There are about 150 stations. This is also the last large-scale commissioning of the Beijing Metro AFC system before it was put into use in mid-May. According to the tester, an average of 3000 new subway magnetic truck tickets and 200 bus IC cards are tested at each subway station. Yesterday morning, we mainly tested automatic ticket vending machines and semi-automatic ticket vending machines, and tested automatic ticket gates last night.

The reporter learned from the subway operating company that in the near future, the company will shoot a promotional video on how to use AFC, and will broadcast it on the mobile TV of the subway train before the AFC equipment is put into use, so that citizens can learn about the new automatic sales inspection system as soon as possible.

After the subway AFC automatic sales inspection system is put into use in mid-May, citizens will use the new subway magnetic truck ticket or Beijing Municipal Transportation Card. The current subway paper ticket will withdraw from the stage of history. The name of the new subway magnetic truck ticket is “Metro One Ticket”, its size is similar to that of a bus IC card, and the line map of 9 subway lines is printed on the ticket. The “Metro One Ticket Pass” is a reclaimed ticket, and the ticket gate will automatically reclaim it when passengers leave the station.
