Precision Dynamics Corp (PDC) to launch two new models on October 28RFIDWristband products, including stretchable polyester material, rewearable wristbands for different size wrists, and a single-use smart wristband made of a tamper-resistant adhesive seal.
The PDC Smart Elastic Wristband is waterproof and reusable, making it suitable for access control for multi-day or seasonal events. According to the PDC, the wristband can be customized with the color of the inside and outside. The wristband comes in two sizes, 185mm*25mm (7.3inch*1inch), 160mm*25mm (6.3inch*1inch), the wristband part is made of nylon and cotton material, embedded RFID A chip that can store and transmit data. Chips available for this wristband include NXP’s ICODE SLIx, which is ISO15693-3 compliant, and NXP’s Mifare1K and Ultralight chips, which are ISO 14443A compliant. The wristband can laser engrave up to eight digit variable data or tag IDs.

The PDC SureImage smart wristband contains an RFID tag between its tear-resistant polypropylene material and also includes a tamper-resistant adhesive closure, which the company says makes it suitable for a single application. The wristband uses high frequency (HF) passive RFID tags (tag chips include NXP iCode slix compliant with ISO 15693-3 standard, NXP Mifare Ultralight ISO14443A standard, or NXP NTAG), and also supports ultra-high frequency (UHF) passive tags . The PDC reports that custom full-color printing and variable data printing capabilities add extra security to the wristbands, keeping them from being counterfeited. Additionally, the PDC SureImage smart wristband comes in smooth laminate and non-laminate versions.
In addition, PDC announced that it has partnered with intellitix, a provider of RFID access control and cashless payment solutions, to provide a PDC smart wristwatch embedded with a 13.56 MHz passive RFID tag for the Squamish Valley Music Festival in the UK in late August 2014 belt. About 100,000 attendees were equipped with PDC’s RFID smart wristbands instead of paper tickets.
Wristbands are multipurpose devices that provide customers with access control, cashless payments, and social applications that don’t require the use of a wallet or smartphone. Attendees’ wristbands are read and verified through the Intellitix portal at a rate of over 2,000 per hour. PDC and intellitix worked with brand.LIVE and Squamish Valley festival operator Live Nation Canada to implement the Intellipay RFID system.
Users can pre-load their smart wristbands with money and use their more than 160 cashless terminals at point-of-sale locations around the festive season to buy food, alcohol, and merchandise. Attendees can also use the smart wristband to link to their Facebook account, check in to the event’s gallery, and share their experience in real-time without the need for a smartphone.
