A few years ago, founder Kulveer founded Tagstand in San Francisco, when the company’s main business product was NFC tags. The customers are mainly for small enterprises with a certain market, and the company’s NFC tags are sold well.

As the market evolved, the company realized that customers needed more than just labels, but end-to-end solution services. Coupled with the advent of Google’s Nexus S NFC mobile phone, NFC solutions have more market scale.

Customers in IPG Media Lab can use NFC smartphone to view product details

IPG Media Labs, a New York-based digital media company, is one of Tagstand’s clients. Since October 2011, IPG has provided customers with an NFC-based data sharing experience, where customers can access product information through NFC smartphones. The NFC solution, which is also installed in the laboratory’s showroom, analyzes the collected data to determine customer preferences and the popularity of the company’s products.

The tagstand company developed the corresponding online software for IPG. The user can log in to the website, and the user only needs to log in to the website, write the code and other information into the label, and complete the card issuance process. When the customer uses the NFC mobile phone to get close to the tag, the mobile phone transmits the code of the tag to the server of the Tagstand management system, and the server returns the URL of the corresponding product for the customer to visit.

Tagstand offers NFC enthusiasts a $17.25 NFC kit that includes 15 pre-coded NFC tags and a free online trial system. At present, there are more than 1,000 customers in and outside the United States. The company’s NFC tag chip is the Mifare chip produced by NXP.

NFC tags provided by Tagstand

There are 35-40 different technology products in IPG’s large exhibition hall, each of which has a display screen showing pictures or videos. The IPG Media Lab provides each incoming customer with an NFC-enabled mobile phone to help them better understand the product. When you see a product of interest, place your mobile phone close to the labeling position, and the reader embedded in the mobile phone reads the label code and sends it to the Tagstand server, where customers can access more relevant information. This solution helps IPG measure the popularity of exhibits.
