In order to distinguish a large number of shrimp products from different farms, IE Technology, a Thai RFID application company, has been studying how to implant RFID chips into plastic boxes for shrimp used in farms and intermediate markets before distributing shrimp to various processing points. In order to understand the ins and outs of shrimp.

The research is designed to support the second phase of the Food Tracking Program, a collaboration between Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Science and Technology. This program enables producers, kitchen workers and even ordinary consumers to understand the origin and processing of food to ensure food safety.

IE Technologies has also developed an RFID reader that is not afraid of ice and water. In order to make it suitable for daily work in the shrimp market, the company has designed both fixed and portable models from the beginning. Fixed readers can read the data in the chip implanted in the case, and portable readers can double-check the data in the chip to prevent any possible errors. Once the shrimp in the box are confused, the reader can scan box by box until the last box is scanned before copying the information.

Since shrimp importers and exporters had to submit a DS-2031 declaration to the Department of Fisheries in order to be licensed for the business, authorities plan to allow these importers and exporters to submit the form and receive the license online. The identification number assigned to the company by the Fisheries Service will be stored in an RFID chip embedded in the box. That way, when you track back, you can figure out where the shrimp in the box came from. To complete the process of tracking boxes, FXA Group is developing software that can manage the flow of RFID information. FXA, a food industry software company, has developed web-based data tracking software that enables agricultural exporters to electronically collect and track all data related to the processing of their products.

It was initially estimated that five shrimp farms would be involved in the second phase of the food tracking programme.
