MasterCard International cooperated with Mongolian Golomt Bank to introduce internationally leading contactless payment technology to Mongolia, and issued the first PayPassTM credit card in the market-MasterCard PayPass Petrovis Credit Card. This credit card, launched in January 2008, marked Mongolia’s entry into the era of contactless payment.
This card brings consumers a fast, safe and convenient contactless daily payment experience. Consumers only need to tap their PayPass credit card on the POS machine to complete the transaction, eliminating the hassle of groping for change and coins, and no need to hand the card to the cashier to swipe the card.
Petrovis, the partner of the co-branded card, is Mongolia’s largest oil company and has 400 gas stations all over Mongolia. Holders of the Mastercard PayPass Petrovis credit card can enjoy at least a 10% discount by swiping their card at Petrovis gas stations. After the credit card is launched, consumers can apply for this card at 46 branches of Golomt Bank in Mongolia.
