  1. System Requirements

The PIS system requirements of Shenzhen Metro Line 4 for network equipment:

1) To adapt to high temperature, damp and heat environment, industrial Ethernet switch requires working temperature: -20~50℃, storage temperature: -30~70℃, storage humidity: 5%~95%, non-condensing.

2) The electromagnetic environment in the train is complex, and the industrial Ethernet switch is required to have strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability and long-term mean time between failures.

3) It is required to have anti-vibration and anti-shock design to adapt to the vibration and shock environment when the train is running.

4) The reliability of communication requires the on-board industrial Ethernet switch to establish a redundant ring network with fast self-healing function. When the communication network fails, it can automatically and smoothly switch to the redundant backup line.

5) In order to ensure the data security of remote monitoring, the vehicle-mounted industrial Ethernet switch needs to have comprehensive network security settings.

  2. Network design plan

Shenzhen Metro Line 4 PIS system on-board subsystem and network subsystem transmission network has its universality and its particularity. We mainly consider the following aspects in the networking plan:

1) The system design fully considers the system characteristics of multiple business subsystems, and technically follows the principle of equal emphasis on advancement, practicability, and mature reliability to form a complete set of networking solutions.

2) It can adapt to the unique environmental requirements in the train, such as extraordinary temperature and humidity range, vibration/impact, instantaneous voltage/current, dust and electromagnetic interference, etc.

3) The networking solution itself must have certain troubleshooting and rapid self-healing functions, capable of self-diagnosis and rapid elimination of equipment failures and link failures, and real-time alarms.

4) When performing manual maintenance, expansion, or fault repair on the network, the impact should be minimized, so that maintenance and expansion have no impact on the operation of the system; fault repair only has a certain impact on the connected terminal of the relevant network equipment.

5) For network equipment, select industrial-grade products with high real-time performance and stability.

6) The networking solution must have compatibility, be able to seamlessly connect network equipment from different manufacturers, and be cost-effective.

7) Taking into account the high reliability requirements of the industrial site, the industrial redundant ring network design is adopted to avoid the significant impact of single-point failure on network transmission.

Based on the comprehensive consideration of the cost-effectiveness and network reliability of OMMET industrial Ethernet switches, this paper proposes the following solutions: Shenzhen Metro Line 4 PIS system on-board subsystem network. The on-board subsystem of the PIS system of Shenzhen Metro Line 4 is divided into a train passenger information display system and a train video monitoring system. Both use Layer 2 industrial Ethernet switches to construct an industrial-grade redundant ring network to provide reliable transmission for on-board equipment.

The vehicle-mounted industrial Ethernet switch uses Omate’s second-tier industrial Ethernet switch Omate6300-10E (Figure 1) to provide 10 10/100M adaptive Ethernet interfaces;

Support 3.2Gbps high backplane bandwidth; in line with IEEE802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x, 802.1d (STP), 802.1p (traffic priority control), 802.1q (VLAN standard), 802.1w (RSTP), 802.3ad ( Link aggregation) protocol; supports instantaneous ring network redundancy technology Jiffy Ring, which ensures the disturbance-free switching of network communication, and the network self-healing time is less than 18ms; provides user authentication in various ways such as 802.1x and HTTP; powerful ACL, hardware Supports IP ACL and MAC ACL; automatically detects and suppresses broadcast storms, supports IGMP message detection, and effectively limits the flooding of broadcast messages; supports Ethernet interface rate limiting in steps of 64K; supports port mirroring and port aggregation ( Each group has up to 8); Super terminal mode (CLI), TELNET, WEB network element management software, support OPC mode monitoring.
