Ekahau announced that Bouman, a mental health care facility based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, will adopt theRFIDThe technical real-time location system (RTLS) triggers an alarm through position sensing to protect the personal safety of the staff.

Ekahau’s RTLS solution consists of Wi-Fi-based RFID tags, infrared (IR) signal generators capable of finer location data, and Ekahau’s visualization software (to determine the location of tagged individuals).

Hospital staff will wear active RFID badges provided by Ekahau, and then use the Ekahau Ascom i62 handheld with positioning function to search for nearby staff who need help, and to know their real-time location in an emergency.

The company explained that this handset is like an Ekahau tag with a one-to-one ID number.

According to Ekahau, Bouman mainly provides services such as nursing care for patients with addictive diseases and other mental illnesses, thus ensuring the safety of the staff is of the utmost importance.

In an emergency, the employee who needs help can pull on the safety switch on the Ekahau badge, and the help message will be sent out immediately, and the security personnel closest to him can respond quickly.

Ekahau’s active RFID badge uses Aruba Networks-based wireless local area network (WLAN) operating system, eliminating the need for dialing and map viewing.

In addition, Ekahau pointed out that when an alarm on Ascom’s handhelds is triggered, or a fire evacuation is required, notifications will be immediately sent to every Ekahau badge and Ascom’s handhelds.

The company added that the system has also upgraded the alarm function to ensure the safety of workers on night shifts. The Ekahau real-time positioning system solution has been implemented on campus, and the system integrator Zetacom has been successfully deployed in 8 buildings. The company is also an Ekahau certified partner.

In addition, other organizations have also begun to deploy the Ekahau timing positioning system with Ascom handsets (RTLS), such as: St. Andrew’s Healthcare, the largest non-profit mental health service organization in the UK. (Compiled by RFID World Net)
