Tom Heijnen, founder of SenseAnywhere, said that the company focuses on active RFID, wireless sensors and IoT products and is a Dutch startup founded in 2009. In 2010, SenseAnywhere released a system containing a source UHF RFID transponder for personal scales and blood pressure monitors.
AccessPoint, used in conjunction with SenseAnywhere’s RFID reader, can accept RFID data, convert these data into IP-based information, and transmit it to a cloud-based server. When the server receives these data, it will automatically send information to the AccessPoint device, and the device will automatically delete the data in the memory after receiving the confirmation information.
Consumers and doctors can access these collected weight or blood pressure data through the app. SenseAnywhere provides tag and reader solutions to equipment manufacturers.
Heijnen said that since 2010, SenseAnywhere has launched similar transponders in other areas. The company also designed an ultra-low-power active RFID tag AiroSensor with a battery life of up to 10 years. AiroSensor has a built-in temperature, humidity sensor and accelerometer, working in the 868 or 915 ultra-high frequency band, which can be used to monitor the location of items in the supply chain, cold chain logistics conditions, indoor temperature and humidity, retail, pharmaceutical and medical industries.
AiroSensor’s accelerometer can detect tag movement, measure any tilt and vibration. In addition, SenseAnywhere also launched the AssetSensor tag without a temperature and humidity sensor version. Both versions are 1.61 inches * 1.26 inches * 0.87 inches in size, and can record data. In this way, even without AccessPoint readers, they can still store measurement data.
In March of this year, AiroSensors were installed in the refrigerated compartments of several PostNL transport trucks that transport temperature-sensitive drugs. At the same time, a mobile AccessPoint receiver is placed in the cab. The mobile AccessPoint receiver has a built-in GPS system, which can obtain the location and altitude of the car chain in real time. These data will be transmitted to the cloud server via the 3G network along with the temperature and humidity data.
Usually, SenseAnywhere only sells hardware to system integrators, but this time, SenseAnywhere also provides cloud-based software. PostNL’s management can remotely obtain information on the location, temperature and humidity of the vehicle. In addition, PostNL can also share these data with government agencies.
Today, PostNL has installed this receiver on more than 40 transport vehicles. PostNL general manager said: “Now everything is going very smoothly.”
Heijnen said that this solution can bring many benefits to users who previously used wired data loggers. First of all, the wired data logger can only be installed in a new car, and the installation process is quite complicated. In addition, the wired data logger also needs to be connected to the black box in the cab. Therefore, they need to be tested and calibrated every year. During this period, the vehicle cannot be used normally.
Heijnen pointed out: “Using the SenseAnywhere solution, temperature and humidity recording becomes much easier in an instant.” AiroSensors are glued to the interior of the vehicle with double-sided adhesive, and the receiver is inserted into the cigarette lighter. In addition, the staff also need to regularly remove the tags outside the vehicle and use SenseAnywhere to calibrate. At this time, spare parts can be used to replace work without any waiting time.
Heijnen explained: “Usually, we will use two independent AiroSensors in a cold room. This is a fail-safe solution.” Heijnen said this method provides a very reliable solution. He said: “This is very necessary.”
Currently, SenseAnywhere is planning to promote this set of solutions to similar customers. Heijnen said: “We want to focus on what we do best: small, ultra-low-power wireless tags, sensors and data loggers.”
In addition, construction companies can use technology to track items on construction sites. At this time, the system will automatically carry out inventory counting and location tracking of items. At the same time, by analyzing tag motion sensor data, construction companies can also formulate more reasonable maintenance plans.
Currently, a pharmaceutical company is beginning early testing of AiroSensor and AssetSensor. According to SenseAnywhere, so far, the company has more than 100,000 RFIDReaderIt is being deployed in consumer medical equipment such as blood pressure monitors and weight scales.
