Albers uses RFID to create a healthy passbook for athletes

It is not easy for busy modern people to develop the habit of continuous exercise. Through the exercise process recorded by RFID, seeing the gradual improvement of physical fitness with daily activities may make people interested in exercise.
AGOSS Health Co., Ltd. has been actively promoting the concept of “exercise to promote health”, and the time-saving, simple and effective “circular exercise” (only 30 minutes, cross aerobic exercise, muscle strength movement patterns for training, stretching movements). The business purpose of the community fitness center established by Yapers is consistent with President Ma’s policy concept of “Building Taiwan into a Healthy Sports Island” and the “Mid-Range Plan for Improving Students’ Physical Fitness” (Three Three) promoted by the Ministry of Education of the Executive Yuan. The three plans) are the same, and more consistent with the Healthy City promoted by WHO (World Health Organization) and Exercise is Medicine promoted by ACSM (American Society of Sports Medicine). I hope to encourage and assist members to achieve regular exercise habits: three times a week, 30 minutes of exercise each time, and a heart rate of 130 beats per minute after exercise. The first two of these three “three” can be viewed by Yapers through the access records recorded by the RFID membership identification system, but the intensity of exercise is difficult to be converted into quantitative data for reference by athletes . The Yapers team believes that if RFID can make good use of the characteristics of non-contact fast sensing, data storage, and repeated writing, it can save more valuable information for exercisers, help to check exercise habits, and understand the physiology of exercise process. Changes, then actively invest in the development of motion detection and recording systems.

Tag and Reader interactive applications meet the needs of various sports situation recording
Although there are a variety of RFID sports recording systems or devices on the market, including: ITRI’s sports and fitness management system, Cisco’s gym information system, Nike’s smart running shoes, etc., but these solutions are all tags (Tag) It can only be placed on athlete’s body to record a single or specific sports events in a specific place, suitable for professional sports enthusiasts to check their physical fitness. For the general public who only regard sports as leisure and entertainment, and may carry out diversified and small activities in various places, it is difficult for such a system to fully present their sports.
The motion detection and recording system developed by Yabos is a Reader-Tag-Reader to Database (RTRD) architecture. In the future, RFID tags and readers (Readers) can be freely configured according to motion requirements, and two types of motion detection can be established. Mode: free movement mode centered on the athlete; structural movement mode centered on the sports field. In the free-motion mode, the tags are built on the sports equipment, and the readers worn by the athletes record their usage on each tag; while in the structured motion mode, the opposite is true: the readers mounted on the sports equipment collect Athletes with tags (eg: membership cards in the gym), the condition of using the equipment. Zhang Dongyang, chairman of Yabos Health, pointed out that the flexible combination of Tag and Reader can extend the motion detection record to the user’s life level, record every kind of exercise the user engages in, and facilitate the inspection of exercise results.

As for the RFID reader’s technology of converting motion behavior into various data, Yabos cooperated with the Precision Measurement Center of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering of National Taiwan University to develop a precise correction mechanism for user force data, and has applied for patents in many countries . Zhang Dongyang pointed out that the reader is installed on a special hydraulic resistance training machine. After the user uses the membership card to identify the equipment and starts training, the machine will record the member’s use status and transmit it wirelessly. , which is displayed on the back-end member health management system. After the exercise is over, the member can read various information about the exercise history from the back-end system.
Sports data and medical analysis transform into national health information
The motion detection and recording system allows exercisers to understand the intensity and effect of their exercise from information such as time of use, frequency, heartbeat, blood pressure, etc., which can be provided to physicians when seeking medical treatment to help determine personal health status, and also allow family members and friends. , coaches and others to master the progress of health target management. From an overall perspective, the more data accumulated, the higher the value after analysis. Zhang Dongyang pointed out that when the exercise information accumulated by the fitness center reaches a certain richness, it can cooperate with the data mining (Data Mining) method designed by the Sports Health Science Center of Yangming University to construct a national health norm, and use it as a data mining method. Public units such as the Health Insurance Bureau and the National Health Bureau formulate reference indicators for various medical policies.

At present, the motion detection system of Yabos contains the national physical fitness norm. Members can compare their exercise status and fitness information with people of the same age and gender. Zhang Dongyang believes that the interaction of this information Invisibly encourage people to carry out health management, improve their physical condition, and develop their persistent exercise habits.
The mechanism for recording exercise through RFID in the gym is becoming more and more mature. Yabos hopes to further implement the process record of the aforementioned “free exercise mode”, so that people can accumulate “deposits” of exercise bankbooks anytime, anywhere. Zhang Dongyang said that Yabos is expected to launch a portable reader “Go Sensor” next year, which can sense all indoor or outdoor sports equipment with RFID tags, and record the usage status in the built-in Flash memory on your card, check your health savings at any time.
The hydraulic resistance training machine, circular motion mode, and motion detection system developed by Yabos were selected as the top 30 most innovative concepts by Taiwan’s “Ministry of Economics” in the 2010 New Product Business Opportunity Announcement and Exhibition. one of the manufacturers. At present, Yabos has established 15 fitness centers in Taiwan, including fitness convenience centers joined by family physicians, school centers built in colleges and universities, and corporate gyms that have introduced company names, etc., and continue to increase.
In addition, in Taiwan’s “Ministry of Economics” and “Smart Life Prospective Research” in the research project of the platform in the three service fields of medical care, diet and exercise, the service model of the AGOSS Fitness Convenience Center is also the information manufacturer IBM responsible for the construction of the platform. Selected as the designated cooperative manufacturer in the field of sports services. Zhang Dongyang pointed out that the combination of exercise data and health management through RFID is a starting point. From the standpoint of promoting exercise habits, Yabos expects to integrate information technology and medical fields more closely. Health improves the quality of life, achieves the realm of enriching the country and strengthening the people, and drives the vigorous development of sports-related industries, medical and biotechnology industries, and even RFID technology-related industries.
