Ekahau provides visitor tracking solution for Dubai theme parks

Ekahau Inc., a leading provider of Wi-Fi-based real-time location systems (RTLS), announced today that Stargate, a new multi-purpose home entertainment center in Dubai, UAE, will integrate the Ekahau Positioning Engine 4.0 (EPE) with its Cisco wireless Wi-Fi Fi networks are integrated to provide a comprehensive tracking system for visitors, staff and portable devices. A unique app currently being offered enables each child of a family visiting the theme park to receive a compact Ekahau T301A tag, which enables parents and Stargate staff to locate them in real time to determine if they are lost.

Assem Lawandy, Managing Director of Wireless Vision, the company responsible for installing the Ekahau solution, said: “This is the first installation of a Wi-Fi network-based tracking system in the Middle East, and we are very honored to be working with a high-profile customer like Stargate. In addition to the 1,100 Ekahau T301A tags, which are primarily aimed at younger visitors, the theme park plans to have its security guards use Ekahau’s upcoming credit card-sized T301B tags. The tags will also play an important role in locating valuable mobile devices within the 24,000-square-meter site.

The theme park terrain is challenging. It spans five domes, each offering a unique experience, including a three-dimensional show, a roller coaster, and a play area themed with real snow and the moon. Other facilities include a multi-cuisine restaurant under a glass pyramid structure and a variety of exhibition halls and retail outlets.
