ACC Systems teamed up with HID Global to use HID Global’s RFID tags to trigger cameras along the zip line to take pictures of visitors as they glide through remote and rough terrain.
Since 1978, Princeville Ranch Adventures has proudly provided visitors with world-class eco-adventure experiences on the North Shore of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. Tourists from all over the world come here to ride horses, hike, and watch beautiful waterfalls in the tranquil tropical rainforest valleys in the scent of birds and flowers full of tropical style. A total of nine zip lines have been constructed at Princeville Adventure Ranch to provide visitors with unparalleled and spectacular views. The “King Kong” ropeway allows explorers to slide side-by-side over a huge span of 1,200 feet (366 meters). Constrained by the conditions of the zip lining at Princeville Adventure Ranch, there were many obstacles to consistently and reliably filming each unique visitor experience. Because Hawaii’s geography is characterized by extreme conditions, including intense sunlight, high temperatures, salt-laden air, high winds, and heavy precipitation, equipment must be specially treated to enhance its durability. Helmets, seat belts and other safety equipment must be cleaned and sanitized after each use.
Additionally, Princeville Adventure Ranch is remote and does not have access to traditional electricity. At the same time, there’s also no reliable communication or Wi-Fi network to run Snapsportz’s software that connects visitors to photos.
In previous applications, Snapsportz has tried to use disposable RFID tags, and although it has been successful, most of these cards are discarded after use after they are issued to event participants.For the zip line ropeway, the installation of RFID tags on the helmets distributed by various attractions seems to be the best solution, but this also means that theseRFIDLabels must be able to withstand the rigors of use and maintain operational performance day in and day out.

ACC Systems, a distributor of full-scale RFID solutions, partnered with HID Global to help Snapsportz find an RFID tagging solution capable of handling the challenging environment of the zip line ropeway. HID Global SlimFlex RFID tags feature a unique thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) housing that withstands repeated bending or twisting while maintaining excellent performance characteristics. Rugged housing provides protection for internal electronics, withstands harsh environmental conditions, has good chemical resistance, and can be adapted to Princeville Adventure Ranch reuse bleaching powder solution for zip line ropeway passengers Helmets are sterilized by erosion. Flexible SlimFlex tabs fit snugly against the curved surface of the helmet and are securely attached with rivets. The UHF electronics within the tag have a reliable data read range of up to 26 feet (8 meters). After using SlimFlex tags, the readability of RFID tags is nearly 100%. To associate each visitor with their own photo, RFID technology in the Snapsportz system can trigger the photo capture and assign a customer helmet number to each photo. This allows the Snapsportz software to automatically sort the photos and retrieve each visitor’s photo on demand. Visitors can order print or digital photos at the interactive photo booth, upload one or all of the photos to a USB disk, or post them to their Facebook page.
The Princeville Adventure Ranch operator was excited by the system’s near-perfect image capture performance on the zip line. HID Global’s SlimFlex labels help ensure travelers have the widest selection of photos for their unique adventures. At little additional cost, the Snapsportz photo system has more than doubled revenue for the entire zip line operation at Princeville Adventure Ranch.
In addition, Princeville Ranch’s profile has been boosted by tourists sharing their photos on social media. About 85% of visitors choose digital versions of their photos because it will allow them to share these photos on Trip Advisor, Facebook, Instagram and other social networking sites, not only for the enjoyment of Princeville Adventure Ranch guests, but also also expanded its business.
