Hilti is a cutting-edge technology and solution provider that serves the construction industry in more than 120 countries. It has successively launched a new ON! Track asset management solution to help construction companies manage most of their assets and resources. This new web-based service uses RFID technology and Confidex (Confidex) RFID hard tags and flexible tags to track tools, machines and equipment on different construction sites. Compared with the inefficient and error-prone manual processes used in the past, Hilti’s customers are now able to manage their assets in real time and truly optimize the use of assets by allocating different equipment at the right place and at the right time.

Tracking and managing resources between different construction sites is a challenge for most construction companies. In the field, locating tools, looking for lost assets or waiting for replacement tools can lose valuable working time. Using Hilti ON!Track’s complete asset management solution, construction companies can mark their tools, machines, materials or equipment with RFID hard tags or flexible tags, and then use RFID readers to quickly and accurately identify the equipment. The status of these assets will be immediately updated to the cloud database storage, so that this information can be easily accessed through the Internet or telephone at any time.

Confidex (Confidex) hard labels or flexible labels are used on commonly used Hilti tools, such as impact drills, cordless drills, power saws, laser levels, heavy angle drills and fasteners. In addition, the ON! Track service is not limited to the use of Hilti brand products, but can be applied to any tools and construction machinery that need to be traced or tracked on site. Since these types of assets are used in very challenging environments, Hilti needed highly durable flexible labels or rigid labels.

“Confidex (Confidex) helped us define the final specification of labeling solutions,” said Dr. Johannes Paefgen, head of Hilti Asset Management Group: “We set goals, but it is really more of a co-creation. In the process, we can rely on Confidex to find a suitable design for our standards.” This makes Hilti’s RFID tags extremely durable and therefore very suitable for use on construction sites.

Hilti and their selected key customers have been testing RFID and data management solutions, and the solutions are now ready to start the company’s full development in January 2016.

“This solution enables Hilti to provide customers with excellent value-added services, which can help them better manage their assets compared to the past,” explains Hanspeter Kündig, Sales Director of Confidex.

“Although this project has many special challenges, Confidex (Confidex) provides a good and close service from beginning to end, so that customized products can meet our final needs,” said Dr. Johannes Paefgen.
