The state-owned forest area is 82,000 hectares, accounting for 14%, and the forest volume is 12.6 million cubic meters, accounting for 34%; the collective forest is 521,000 hectares, accounting for 86%, and the forest volume is 24.4 million cubic meters, accounting for 66%. The total area of ecological public welfare forests is 486,000 hectares, accounting for 80.5% of the forest land, including 317,000 hectares of national key public welfare forests, 169,000 hectares of local public welfare forests, and 117,000 hectares of commercial forests, accounting for 19.5%.
The city has 31 state-owned forest farms, 1 national nature reserve (Liaoning Laotudingzi National Nature Reserve), 1 provincial nature reserve; 5 national forest parks and 5 provincial forest parks.
