The LUS ultra-wideband real-time positioning system is a high-precision indoor or outdoor real-time positioning system produced by PLUS Location Systems in the United States. It is composed of tags, readers, synchronization distribution panels, antennas, tag confirmation points and positioning software. The positioning accuracy can reach +/-15 cm, and the radio frequency bandwidth is about 2GHz. The system is divided into European system and American system. The label update rate of the European system is 1~10Hz, which can be dynamically adjusted during operation through the label confirmation point. The label and the label verification point communicate in two ways, and the label can replace the battery. The update rate of the American label is fixed at 1 to 4 Hz, and the battery cannot be replaced. There is a button on the American label, which can trigger an event, and the user can customize this event in the secondary development. The center frequency of European-style tags is 7.3GHz, and that of American-style tags is 6.8GHz. In addition to the standard configuration tags, users can also customize tags according to their own application needs, and the refresh frequency of customized tags can reach 100Hz. The system can track thousands of tags at the same time, using the time difference of arrival method (TDOA) to locate and track. The system has FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification and ETL (American Electronic Testing Laboratory, founded by Edison) certification.

PLUS positioning system can be used in government buildings, high-value warehouses, parking lots, supermarkets, large manufacturing workshops, hospitals, nursing homes, kindergartens, hotels, large restaurants, entertainment venues, prisons, residential quarters, logistics companies, museums, exhibition halls , Stadiums, performing arts venues, armed police, fire brigades, colleges, scientific research institutions, professional sports institutions, armory, laboratories, etc. carry out high-precision positioning and monitoring of personnel and important materials.

The PLUS positioning system can be linked with camera monitoring systems, broadcast monitoring systems, access control systems, security systems, lighting guidance systems, etc., to make up for the deficiencies of these monitoring systems. It can automatically alarm at any time when problems occur, guide relevant personnel to respond in time, and can also store data To facilitate post-mortem analysis. These systems can be combined into a comprehensive intelligent monitoring system to meet the various needs of our customers.

Applications

The main function of the positioning part of the substation field operation safety intelligent monitoring project is to obtain the positioning data of the operator in real time, and can transmit the alarm information to the operator in time. After being put into operation, it can improve the informatization of the safe production of the substation.

This project chooses to install a total of 4 sets of readers and antennas in the 220KV area, and a 6-port synchronization distributor. Due to the strict height and material requirements of the equipment in the ultra-high voltage working area, the reader and antenna are installed at a height of 3 meters, and the personnel wear 4 Hz badges and tags, a total of 10. The monitoring area of the project is 1,600 square meters, with an accuracy of about 30 cm, which exceeds the design requirement of an accuracy of 1 meter.

System advantages

Compared with ultra-wideband systems, traditional radio frequency systems can be considered narrowband, although their bandwidths are different in actual applications. The common feature of narrowband systems is that they emit a long train of radio frequency waves while ultra-wideband systems emit short bursts of radio frequency. Transmitting short pulses gives UWB systems the following advantages over traditional radio frequency:

● Provide very accurate distance measurement values for the tracking system: the accuracy of the ultra-wideband system is more than ten centimeters and the accuracy of the narrowband system is a few meters.

● Excellent performance in a very complex radio frequency electromagnetic environment: In an environment with many reflected waves, the signals overlap and cancel each other, and at least the tracking system will not be able to accurately obtain the arrival time of the signal. Short pulse signals rarely overlap, so the UWB system still maintains extremely high performance in environments with strong reflections is the main feature of UWB.

● It has the ability to track a huge number of tags at the same time: the short pulse transmission time is short, which means that a large number of signals can exist in the air at the same time without colliding with each other, which means that the ultra-wideband system can track thousands of tags in one second .
