RFID wristbands for the Ryder Cup

Spectators will receive an RFID wristband that can be used as a ticket to activate and register their RFID tag via a tablet or smartphone, or go to an information center where volunteers are stationed at the venue. Once activated, the RFID technology will allow fans to participate in many official Ryder Cup partner activities, such as winning BMW car displays and Ryder Cup betting investments, in which spectators can also compete in mock teams, according to the Ryder Cup chief.

During the event, a “Walk the Course” campaign will encourage spectators to visit various areas of the venue, and prizes will be awarded to whoever checks in around the course.

The wristbands also allow fans to show support for their teams, offering a virtual “high five” (a type of American cultural gesture) for European and American teams to inspire by touching their wristbands when they arrive.

They can also automatically update Facebook and Twitter social networks to connect with friends and family around the world.

ID&C refuses to say anything about being used in the Ryder CupRFIDDetails of chip and reader. However, technology provided by ID&C and Intellitix was used at last summer’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, enabling attendees to share likes and photos of themselves on Facebook, upload music to Spotify, if allowed in. Streaming media, basking in the mood on Twitter. Each ID&C wristband has a built-in ISO15693 compliant 13.56 MHz tag.
