In October 2007, the World Special Olympics were held in Shanghai. Nearly 20,000 athletes and coaches from Special Olympics delegations from 164 countries and regions will participate in this year’s Special Olympics. In addition, more than 20,000 parents, experts, scholars and guests will participate in Special Olympics, and more than 40,000 volunteers will participate in the guarantee. The Special Olympics went smoothly.

Due to the special Olympics participating in a special group of mentally handicapped people with an IQ below 70, the responsibility of the Organizing Committee for the safety of Special Olympics athletes is much higher than that of ordinary athletes. Therefore, the organizing committee hopes to use information technology in the service and management of athletes and participants to reflect better humane care and personalized services. Therefore, it decided to implement the radio frequency project in this Special Olympics.

According to the needs of the Executive Committee of the Special Olympics, as the only designated application service provider for the RFID project of the Special Olympics, Keshitong used electronic tag technology to provide support and services for the Special Olympics, including athlete information query, athlete medical treatment Support services, health athlete plan support and services, conference support and services, athlete tracking management and other items.

Project implementation:

This Special Olympics electronic label project uses the certificates of athletes and other relevant personnel as the carrier. When producing the certificates, the relevant personnel’s IDs are written into the electronic labels, and then they are used in competition venues, athletes’ accommodation hotels and designated hospitals, healthy athletes plan, The meeting place uses the electronic tag reading device to read the personnel ID, and according to the read ID, from the background systems (athlete competition management system GMS, healthy athlete planning system HAS, medical security system MES, VIP management system GEMS, registration system, certificate making system) system, etc.) to call out relevant information to realize the functions of athlete information query, athlete medical security services, healthy athlete plan security and services, conference security and services, activity center services, etc. The implementation sites include 30 competition venues, 100 hotels, 40 The hospital and a media studio have installed 400 sets of systems, spread across all districts and counties in Shanghai, and produced more than 80,000 certificates, including more than 20,000 dual-chip certificates, the largest scale in the history of RFID application projects.

In order to ensure the smooth progress of Special Olympics, Keshitong and its partners have jointly developed various hardware equipment, namely: HF fixed reading and writing terminals, HF handheld readers, HF electronic tags, UHF fixed readers, UHF handheld reader, UHF electronic tag.

Before September 30th, Keshitong installed the following systems:

— Installed 40 sets of MES systems in 40 hospitals,
— 30 sets of information consulting service systems and 30 sets of MES systems have been installed in 30 sports venues
— 104 sets of MES systems and 104 sets of information consulting services were installed in 100 hotels.
— The Athlete Health Plan has set up 12 sets of HAS electronic labeling systems.
— Two sets of 915 electronic tag conference management systems were installed in the Family Forum and Youth Summit.
— 24 sets of personnel management systems installed in 6 competition venues
— 50 HF mobile mobile information advisory service systems and 11 UHF mobile information advisory service systems
— The certification point has installed 4 sets of 13.56 and 4 sets of 915 electronic label certification systems.

At the same time, according to the requirements of the executive committee, Keshitong conducted a comprehensive inspection and debugging of nearly 400 sets of system equipment in the city within three days.

During the Special Olympics, Keshitong has formulated a thorough security plan and emergency measures, set up a technical support hotline, and provided 24-hour technical support. All faults were resolved within 3 hours, so that the event progressed smoothly and all work was in an orderly manner. The electronic label system operates stably and reliably during the event.

Implementation Effect

Through the implementation and operation of the Special Olympics electronic label system in 2007, the electronic label has achieved good results in actual use in terms of event management, security, and background support. It has been affirmed by relevant leaders, international Special Olympics officials, athletes and other parties, accumulating valuable technology and experience. The Chief Technology Officer of Special Olympics International specifically expressed that he would learn from the successful application of the Special Olympics electronic label and carry out wider promotion in future Special Olympics competitions, such as the 2008 Winter Invitational Tournament and the 2009 Winter Special Olympics held in the United States.

There are self-service inquiry systems in 30 venues and 100 hotels. With the help of volunteers, many athletes have obtained relevant information such as competition items, competition venues, contacts, and results by swiping their cards, which brings a lot of convenience to athletes. .

In 30 stadiums, 100 hotels, and 40 hospitals, there are medical security systems (MES), where doctors can read personal information with athletes’ credentials, print forms, and transfer medical treatment data into the MES system.

At the “Special Olympics Global Family Voice” and “Special Olympics Global Youth Summit” forums, the electronic tag system successfully signed in for the participants and displayed a welcome message.

During the period from October 3 to 10, nearly 700 athletes participated in the athlete health plan every day. According to statistics, 5,181 athletes actually participated in this activity, and the number of items checked was 20,653 times. In the previous World Special Olympics, such a large workload was completely completed by hand, the operation time for single-form information registration was long, the speed of personnel passage was slow, and the input of English characters was prone to errors. Problems such as frequent occurrences. The “Health Plan” of the meeting took the lead in adopting RFID technology, which has solved these problems one by one.

The athlete access management system has been installed in the Shanghai Gymnasium, Luwan Basketball Hall, China Normal University Volleyball Hall, International Gymnastics Center, Huangpu Roller Skating Hall, and Pudong Swimming Hall, which have the largest number of participants.

Outlook and Outlook

Because of its large amount of data storage and long reading and writing distance, electronic tag technology can effectively provide various personalized services for visitors and exhibitors after being combined with tickets, etc., and can also help exhibitors and “Special Olympics” organizers more Good statistical analysis of information, decision support. At present, there have been small-scale application cases in the ticket management of various events and exhibitions in the world. “Special Olympics” adopts electronic tag technology to apply to the comprehensive service and management of large-scale exhibitions, which has many strategic positive effects. The establishment of the “Special Olympics” electronic label information service system will provide a reference for the application of electronic label technology in China’s exhibition industry. The extensive use of electronic label technology in the exhibition industry will improve the service management capabilities of China’s exhibition industry and enhance its international competitiveness. In terms of industrial development, the “Special Olympics” electronic label application will become a demonstration project in the industry. Its successful construction will help drive the rapid development of the entire industry chain. Research and commercialization of technologies such as chips and card readers will start To a very large driving effect, the economic benefits generated will be huge and far-reaching.
