Following the success of the RTLS system at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, the Worcestershire Hospital Group has expanded the use of the system. The system includes WiFi RFID tags from Stanley, MobileView software, and Cisco’s WiFi nodes.

The Royal Worcestershire Hospital was established in 2002 and specializes in stroke care and cardiac stenting. The hospital has a total of 9 operating rooms, a neonatal intensive care unit and a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
“Stanley provides a better and more complete solution than others,” said Jeremy Thomas, anesthesiologist at Worcestershire Hospital Group.
In 2011, the Royal Worcestershire Hospital had a total of 1,000 tags attached to its medical assets. These tags include T2, T2s, T2EB, T3, T4 bidirectional tags and T5 temperature tags provided by Stanley. In addition, the existing WiFi network does not meet the functions of the RTLS system. So the hospital replaced this network with Cisco WiFi nodes.

Whenever a tagged item arrives in the service area, the system automatically records this information. When the item leaves the area, the system will also update this status in real time.
In addition, for better management of high-value equipment, the hospital also uses the RTLS system to track some personnel.
Thomas said hospital management intends to expand the use of the system to include Alexander Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and the treatment centre.In addition, management intends to provide patients withRFIDLabel wristbands for better management.
