Zebra, a leading international supplier of automatic identification, has announced that the famous Vail ski resort in the United States has launched a new “easy scan” system for customers, which uses Zebra’s P330i UHF RFID card printer/encoder to print RFID tickets , designed to provide instant verification services for ticket holders.

Robert Urwiler, CIO of Vail Ski Resort, said, “We are always looking for new ways to enhance the customer service experience, and now the ‘Easy Scan’ system does exactly that. We have worked with Zebra before, and the new P330i The performance provided by the UHF RFID card printer/encoder will help us achieve our intended goals.”

Vail Ski Resort can use a handheld radio frequency scanner to detect tickets through coats, providing an easier and more convenient experience that eliminates the need to swipe or scan a barcode to gain access. The new RFID system includes Zebra’s Gen 2 RFID cards and Zebra P330i passive UHF RFID card printer.

This RFID card system is planned to be fully deployed and implemented in 2008-2009.

Steve Park, vice president and general manager of Zebra RFID, said that the P330i passive UHF RFID card printer/encoder and the company’s designed UHF Gen2 RFID cards are ideal for automatic identification applications at lifts. The system provides long read distances and unique identification capabilities to ensure a higher level of security and authentication, and this Zebra solution will help Vail Ski Resort deliver on its promise of a special service experience for users.

Zebra P330i Passive UHF RFID Card Printer/Encoder with 4MB Image Memory and a 16 Character LCD Display. This printer/encoder is designed for use with Zebra-designed cards, and is compatible with tickets from other manufacturers, producing crisp, vivid images at 300 dpi.

The EPC Gen 2 cards used at the Vail ski resort include a chip with a strong sensitivity and a unique ID code that can be used to prevent counterfeiting of tickets. The card’s inlay antenna, specially designed by Zebra, provides maximum performance and read range.
