French Art Network owns several art galleries in France. Now French Art Network has decided to use RFID technology to track and locate its collections in art galleries and transportation.

French Art Network installs a pre-coded RFID tag on each artwork to identify the artwork and its location. The long-distance RFID reader will “call” the artworks in the museum every 10 minutes. The inventory information of each art gallery is synchronously sent to the French Art Network headquarters via the WEB, so that the management staff can know the exact location of all the collections every 10 minutes.

More and more art museums use RFID tags to track artworks

To prevent the theft of artworks (especially when paintings are transferred from one art gallery to another), the label includes a vandal-proof device. This device allows managers to understand the safety of artworks outside the reading range. If someone attempts to change the tag, the anti-vandal device will be turned on and provide the monitoring equipment with a time stamp of this event. In this way, once the art instrument returns to within the reading range, the art museum will immediately take appropriate measures.

This solution was developed by Silent Partner Technologies of the United States. The solution uses VUANCE’s RFID technology, asset tags and passive readers.
