The design of the new Holiday Inn Express Hotels & Suites (Holiday Inn) is characterized by the integration of traditional Halifax hospitality and the latest technology. Halifax Hotel was founded in 1749. Halifax was the first British town in Canada.

Holiday Inn Express Hotels & Suites opened earlier this month and is the first hotel in Halifax to use RFID room keys.

Kingslake Group’s project manager Vah Kouyoumdjian said: “The owner decided to invest in RFID technology because it is easy to use and can deepen the impression of residents. I would suggest that other facilities also adopt RFID technology.”

The new hotel is located near the Halifax International Airport. It is equipped with 119 guest room keys, a business center key, and a public area key (the public area is equipped with a fence) to facilitate emergency evacuation.

Cheryl Ann Grigg, General Manager of Holiday Inn Express Hotels & Suites, said: “We chose ILCO’s 790 type contactless electronic key because we need the most advanced system. This type of key has a sophisticated design and reliable use, making it an excellent choice for hotels. .”

In addition to the 790 type key, Holiday Inn Express also uses ILCO’s alternate new generation FDU (front desk unit-reception counter) to speed up the guest registration process. The new generation reception counter can quickly complete the guest registration process, and the functions of the traditional PC system are still retained, making it one of the most cost-effective RFID systems. This counter completes the coding of the key card, completes the tracking system function, collects control data, programs the key, manages and audits the key. The new generation of counters is easy to use and only requires a small amount of training.

Grigg also explained the RFID encoder and reader, guests do not need to wave the key card, which is the most useful special design of this set of contactless keys. The staff and guests like this set of non-contact keys very much. It does not need to be inserted into the keyhole, and guests can easily enter their guest rooms. Guests only need to simply display the RFID key card in front of the door lock. This RFID key card will not demagnetize. Other forms of RFID key cards available are key chains and wristbands.

She appreciates the convenience of contactless key programming and the convenience of review. Through contactless identification and read-write technology, the management department can track the movement of employees by checking their key cards. The key can also be checked through the employee’s smart card. The security personnel only need to check the room door locks through the key card used in the audit. Then employees can automatically obtain the audit information, saving maintenance personnel the trouble of downloading door lock information.

Grigg said: “Our system has proved to be extremely good through actual use and very user-friendly.”

John Sarrouf, vice president of North American sales at Ilco, said: “Our 790-type contactless key can be installed in the Halifax Holiday Inn Express Hotel. We are very proud. This key has already achieved great success during the exhibition, because the market has already Recognize the value of adopting this new technology.” (Wen/Zhuang Biaowei)
