IDENTIC SOLUTIONS announced at the TOC European Conference in Bremen, Germany, that its industry-leading active RFID technology has been selected by DP World for truck identification and access management for all container terminals in Australia. DP World is one of the largest container terminal operators in the world.

DP World selects IDENTEC SOLUTIONS active RFID technology

IDENTEC SOLUTIONS and RAMP, headquartered in Australia, jointly deployed a complete set of active RFID solutions, including long-range tags, readers and integrated software.

IDENTEC SOLUTIONS readers and positioning marks will be deployed at the entrance of each terminal. The vehicle will be read when entering and exiting the terminal, and the tag identification data will be communicated with the gate software of the terminal operating system (Navis SPARCS). The Port Botany terminal in Sydney, Australia’s second largest container port, has taken the lead in completing deployment. In the next six months, the system will be deployed at DP World’s Brisbane and Freemantle container terminals.

Prior to this, IDENTEC SOLUTIONS conducted a proof-of-concept test with various competing vendors, and the results of the test were evaluated by the DP World’s Australian management team. IDENTEC SOLUTIONS’ long-range intelligent patented technology (ILR) has a long-standing reputation and is very reliable even in the harshest environment. It has a long reading time, which is the key factor for the company to obtain this contract.

Joe Schofield, Head of Operational Efficiency for National Managers in DP World Australia, said: “We believe that active RFID is an important technology for gate entry and exit management and terminal management process automation, which will help DP World improve safety and productivity. We have evaluated many distributors and found that the technology of IDENTEC SOLUTIONS is very dynamic, with particularly good performance and high reliability, which is very suitable for the needs of ocean container operation.”

The contract was given to IDENTEC SOLUTIONS, and the system is currently being deployed by Ramp RFID, a member of the company’s global resale project. Ramp RFID CEO Kevin Cohen said: “This is an important step in the application of active RFID in the Australian transportation and logistics market. We look forward to expanding the application in the Australian port sector and other markets.”

IDENTEC SOLUTIONS CEO Gerhanrd Schedler said: “We are very pleased to cooperate with DPW Australia and Ramp RFID on this project. We are able to contribute to DP World through the combination of our industry-leading active RFID technology and RAMP’s integrated application development technology. To provide a solution that can meet their current logistics needs and easily catch up with the development of these terminals in the future. The award of this contract further demonstrates IDENTEC SOLUTIONS as the emerging leader in the maritime, combined transportation and port sectors.”

This is the second largest RFID gate entry and exit management contract that IDENTEC SOLUTIONS has obtained from DP World. The first major contract is the Jebel Ali container terminal in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition, the Georgia Port Authority in Savannah, Georgia also adopted the RFID gate access management solution provided by IDENTEC SOLUTIONS.
