Introduction to the pilot application of RFID in Baosong Logistics
[ad_1]
Baogong Logistics Enterprise Group Co., Ltd. is a leading third-party logistics company in China. She has set up more than 50 branches or offices in more than 50 cities across the country, formed a nationwide business operation network and information network, and provided logistics integration for more than 50 companies in the global top 500 and a group of large domestic companies Serve.
Baosong Logistics Nangang Base is a large-scale distribution center for its Pearl River Delta customers, and the daily volume of goods in and out is very large. The verification of product model, quantity, and batch is an important content when the distribution center distributes products to customers. In order to increase the efficiency and accuracy of warehouse access, the Electronic Commerce Technology Institute (ETI) of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Modern Logistics Technology and Management Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University introduced RFID technology to assist its warehouse management in June 2005.
RFID technology is a new data acquisition technology that can identify individuals at a long distance, in large quantities, and quickly. In this pilot project, we select large-scale home appliances, add an RFID tag to each product on each board, and associate the type, batch, and serial number of the product. When the product is out of the warehouse, it can quickly complete the verification and confirmation of the entire board based on the RFID tag affixed to each item.
For the warehousing process, after the customer sends the warehousing notice ASN to the total order management system (TOM) of Baoshou, the RFID system can import the type, batch, quantity and other information of the corresponding warehousing product from the TOM system. The warehouse manager will prepare a corresponding number of RFID tags according to the number of products in the warehouse. When the goods are removed from the truck, in the unloading area, the warehouse staff will label each product. When the porter drags each board into the warehouse, the RFID system will detect the RFID tags of all products on each board and check whether the quantity is correct. In order to cooperate with the management of product barcode by Baosong WMS system, when the product is delivered to the tally area, the warehouse clerk scans the associated barcode and product barcode, and completes the matching in the RFID system. So far, the warehousing operation has been completed. Warehouse management personnel can query the number of products that have been put into the warehouse, RFID tag numbers, and so on. On the other hand, the warehousing information can be uploaded to the WMS system of Bao Gong.
For the outbound process, when the outbound notice ODO enters the TOM system, the TOM system is uploaded to the WMS system. The WMS system generates a picking list according to relevant principles and sends it to the warehouse keeper. At the same time, the WMS system informs the RFID system of the designated shipped products through the TOM system. At this point, open the RFID system and you can see the list of products that will be out of the library. When the mover moves each board of goods outside the door, the RFID system automatically detects the RFID of all the goods on each board. When the product is a designated product, the system will give a confirmation message. When the product is an unspecified product, the system will give a warning message. After completing the confirmation of the outbound product, in the loading area, the warehouse manager removes the label that was previously affixed to the product for reuse in the future. At the same time, movers can load products onto the truck.
Generally speaking, when the product is stored in the warehouse, because the product itself does not have an RFID tag, the system temporarily needs a labeling and associated bar code work, which increases some working time. However, when leaving the warehouse, the operation of scanning barcodes one by one for confirmation has been reduced, and the functions of automatic quantity accumulation and error-proof alarm have been added, which greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of the warehouse. Through field timing estimation, we can conclude that if RFID is fully applied, the efficiency of warehouse entry and exit can be increased by about 40%.
