For a long time, due to the relatively weak foundation of information technology in the logistics management of cigarettes, the production, inventory, and circulation of cigarettes lack accurate and timely information sources and effective management and control platforms. Take Kunming Cigarette Factory as an example. Before the production of cigarette packs, each cigarette pack had to be manually labelled. During each shift in the workshop, both parties had to re-inventory the cigarette packs. When handing over to the warehouse, it was necessary to arrange 3 employees. To count the cigarette packs again, in many cases, to find out the exact number of cigarette packs, it is necessary to check repeatedly.
When it comes to warehousing, work is not easy. Whenever goods movement, warehouse transfer, allocation, and internal adjustment of the enterprise occur, the two parties must sign an order or even meet to confirm. The inventory work once or twice a year has become the most “headache” operation for warehouse managers, and it takes a lot of manpower and material resources to count the number of pieces of cigarettes one by one.
“The management of the warehousing and storage process of piece tobacco is lacking. It can only be reported to the ledger through the redrying point, and extensive management can be carried out by means of account comparison. The project team continued to explore technical parameters in accordance with the principle of attributes, using RFID wireless radio frequency, barcode recognition and other technologies, each cigarette box was used as a unit to assign uniquely coded information identification tags to the cigarettes, and label them in each physical logistics transfer link. Scanning codes, information tracking and tracing, maintenance and quality inspection information integration, etc.
During the pilot process, a lot of basic work was done. Shi Yanbing, manager of the logistics service department of China Tobacco Information Technology Company, took “label selection” as an example to introduce in the class. The project team conducted all-round tests and verifications on the performance of RFID tags, such as reading and writing, corrosion resistance, friction resistance, and batch reading. Seven mainstream electronic tag manufacturers in China provided large quantities of tags for actual production testing.
“We have clarified what information must be included in the tracking system. When a truck full of cigarettes enters and exits the warehouse, with the help of information equipment to identify the RFID tags, the display screen can instantly display the information of the cigarettes loaded in the vehicle, and the information of the entire vehicle is clear at a glance, realizing the “passing information”. “The hero” is the RFID tag on the cigarette box.
