Chicago Public Schools (CPS) announced that it will use Radiant RFID enterprise asset management solutions to track and manage school assets.
It is reported that the Chicago campus is one of the largest high schools in the United States, with more than 402,000 students attending.
According to Radiant, the campus will deploy a virtual asset tracking (VAT) system to manage the dynamic management of various items, valued at more than 450 million U.S. dollars, including all assets such as technology, video, audio and video, kitchen equipment, furniture, equipment, and vehicles.
The VAT system uses Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Gen 2 RFID technology. Radiant also provides software and network support to generate unexpected situation reports, matching reports, inventory reports and other data information.
VAT integrates data and information from other departments of the CPS campus, including information technology, accounting and finance, property management, teaching management, etc. Users can create custom reports and display asset utilization to make better decisions.
Radiant said that through automated data collection, RFID technology has greatly reduced the occurrence of manpower and various human errors.
Radiant is using RFID solutions to replace the existing bar code system of CPS schools, involving about 100,000 assets in 200 campuses to achieve visual management.
According to Radiant, the school plans to finally apply the solution to all (650) campuses.
Radiant’s VAT system has also been adopted by other public agencies in Chicago, such as the Suburban Bus Department of the Chicago Regional Bureau of Transportation.
