Uptown Cycles, a bicycle retailer in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, has successfully integrated an RFID inventory management system to track inventory and shipments.
Uptown Cycles sells bicycles, clothing, safety equipment, accessories and food. In order to manage the quantity of goods, the store manager wants to find a set of item-level RFID labeling system to realize electronic supervision of items, increase inventory accuracy, and improve storage security.
The store uses the FLiP system developed by Freedom Shopping to implement labeling in the new inventory. The FLiP system uses RFID scanners and software bridges to synchronize the RFID tag database with the POS system. Store employees only need to scan the barcode of the product, and then can identify the product in the POS system. After the product is recognized by the two systems, the information can be sent to print.
Uptown Cycles chose to use Zebra Technologies’ RZ400 printer to print information. The information can be sent wirelessly to the RZ400 to generate a master label, which contains the product description, bar code and coded RFID tag.
Using this new system, purchased items are marked at the time of payment, eliminating false alarms from non-intelligent monitoring systems. Employees can accurately identify products and prevent theft.
