Embassy Suites Chicago uses RFID beverage nozzles to manage bar operations

Embassy Suites Lakefront in downtown Chicago is the flag representative of the Embassy Suites brand of Hilton Hotel Group. The hotel now uses RFID technology to save on beverage costs, track costs, and better manage bar operations.
This 455-room hotel has adopted a set of RFID system Beverage Tracker from Capton to achieve more accurate tracking of beverage sales, improve the continuity of beverage preparation, and better complete the ready-to-sell beverage cabinets for banquets and evening bar recruitment. Special-hotel guests can taste appetizers and drinks outdoors-switch between. Capton’s Beverage Tracker system consists of an RFID beverage nozzle that can be placed on a wine bottle, an RFID reader, and software.

The nozzle contains a battery-powered 418 MHz RFID tag and measuring device. When the bartender pours the wine, the tilted wine bottle activates the label and the measuring device, and the nozzle can measure the amount of wine poured. The tag then transmits this information (and the unique identification number of the RFID tag, the brand of wine and the size of the bottle) to the reader antenna. The maximum reading distance of the nozzle label can reach 100 feet.
