Belgian winemakers use RFID to track wine barrels
[ad_1]
New Belgium Brewing Company is now using a set of RFID asset tracking solutions provided by Fluensee to help track, manage and increase the utilization rate of 150,000 wine barrels.
New Belgium will use Fluensee’s browser-based AssetTrack software and passive RFID technology to obtain visibility of the barrel inventory, monitor and track the filling cycle of each barrel, and the time it stays at the wholesaler, and Record the time when each wholesaler returns the barrel.
New Belgium installs a passive RFID reader on the filling line of each wine barrel. The reader reads the contents of the barrel, the filling date and other information. This information is then automatically sent to Fluensee AssetTrack software.
The system provides real-time information for New Belgium, such as which barrel has the most filling times and the type of beer. This information can help New Belgium develop a more effective new distribution plan. In addition, with this new system, the company can also identify which customer is responsible for the damaged barrel.
