It rained when I went out, but I didn’t bring an umbrella. I am afraid that everyone has encountered this kind of thing. If there is a public welfare organization that can place a certain number of umbrella stands on the side of the road, it can be freely borrowed and returned like a public bicycle. For this idea, several students from Zhejiang University really thought of it: they invented the “Real-Name Intelligent Love Umbrella Borrowing and Returning System”, because the inspiration comes from public bicycles, which can also be called “public umbrellas.” This newspaper has previously reported.

Yesterday, the reporter was informed that the first batch of public umbrellas have been officially opened on the Xixi campus of Zhejiang University.

Live experience:

Swipe the card, the umbrella is ready to wait

How is this new invention used and how does it feel? The reporter rushed to the Xixi campus to experience it. On the entrance side of the canteen at the north gate of the campus, there is a 1.5-meter-long metal umbrella stand on which 7 umbrellas are hung. The umbrella is locked by two metal bars. To open it, you must rely on a campus card.

A female college student took out the campus card, put it on the card reader, and after a beep, the electronic lock that controlled the umbrella stand automatically retracted, and the umbrella could be taken out calmly, and the same was done for returning the umbrella.

Since the love umbrella stand has just been piloted, there is only one in Hangzhou, and many students are not yet familiar with it. A few male classmates came over and tried, and they shouted hello. They thought they had to pay by card, but they didn’t expect to pay a penny.

One can only borrow one

If not repaid after 5 days, 50 cents will be deducted every day

This system was invented by Cui Yubo, Wei Jiaqi, and Liu Zhi, who are in their senior year at Zijingang campus. Cui Yubo said that the love umbrella borrowing and returning system is currently only for Zhejiang masters and students. Campus card holders can borrow umbrellas, but one person can only borrow one. They designed the control program as follows: 5 cents are deducted from the card every day if the umbrella is not returned after being lent for 5 days. For those who have not returned for a long time, the deduction will be stopped after the full 15 yuan has been deducted. Because the cost of an umbrella is only 15 yuan.

The students put a lot of effort into applying this creative invention. From creativity to research, finding corporate sponsorships, and finally achieving positive results with the assistance of the relevant departments of the school, the results have been very rewarding along the way.

Liu Zhi told reporters that they are applying to the school for project funding related to informatization construction, and will soon promote more umbrella stands once it is implemented. At present, cooperation has been implemented with relevant companies. It is expected that 40 “Smart Love Umbrella Loan and Return System” will be fully rolled out in the four campuses of Zhejiang University next month. “We are improving some technical details, and our ultimate wish is to get the support of the government or related enterprises to promote this public welfare project throughout Hangzhou.”

Bus company:

Solve the technical bottleneck and apply

Xu Feng, head of the campus card management office of Zhejiang University, said that the students’ creativity is very good. “The old-fashioned love umbrellas introduced by the school could not be effectively managed, and the amount of umbrellas lost was very large. The new system solves this problem well. Another advantage is that such a real-name management method can cultivate a modern life for everyone. Do things in your own identity and be a credible person.” Xu Feng said that as long as the system is applied well, the school will definitely provide relevant funds to support the promotion of this project on campus.

The college students envisaged to promote this love umbrella lending and returning system in Hangzhou through public transportation cards or citizen cards that are widely used by the public. The reporter then “sell” this little invention to Hangzhou Public Transport Group. People in Hangzhou Public Transport Group think this is a good idea. From the perspective of the convenience of the citizens, as long as there is no problem at the technical level, it should be promoted: “If the love umbrella lending and returning system is compatible with the bus card, this project should be applicable to the society, and it can be installed at the bus stop if conditions permit. system.”
