Nando’s Catering Company has decided to conduct a practical test of the Timestrip smart label system in some of its restaurants in South Africa.
Nando’s Catering Company has more than 700 restaurants on five continents around the world. Previously, the company had completed product testing of the Timestrip smart label system. The actual application test will be the first to start in about 30 restaurants in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Nando’s Catering Company hopes to use the Timestrip label to reduce waste in order to achieve the purpose of saving, while also ensuring food safety.
This news comes days after Timestrip announced that it is eagerly looking for funding. Timestrip said that by the end of May, the company will face the dilemma of running out of funds. Because by the end of March 2008, the company’s cash balance was only 440,000 pounds left. The company hopes to be able to raise funds from the second board of the London Stock Exchange in the United Kingdom.
Two Nando’s suppliers will also test the Timestrip smart label to verify whether this technology can guarantee the environment required by the product in the cold chain of food transportation.
Mr. Bloch, the technical director of Nando’s, said, “Every day, Nando’s needs to provide a huge amount of food to the world, and we need to ensure the quality of these foods. I am very happy to be able to test this product in our restaurant. ”
