The Danish Industries in Copenhagen re-expanded its office space and needed to upgrade access control systems, intrusion alarms, and security monitoring equipment. On the basis of the original system, RFID technology is integrated, and the new solution is provided by Schneider Electric, which specifically designs high-frequency RFID reading and writing equipment.

The office area of the Danish Industrial Organization includes a total of 245 internal and external doors and 55 surveillance cameras, plus an intrusion prevention alarm system.

Schneider Electric developed the I/Net software system installed on the virtual backstage of the Danish Industrial Organization. The camera in the solution was provided by Pelco. Schneider Electric also provides Idesco Access 8 CD 2.0 readers (pictured above), which are installed at the entrances and exits of the interior and exterior doors. When an employee passes through with a 13.56 MHz HF RFID card, the system allows it to pass. The pass card uses the Mifare DESFire chip of NXP Semiconductors and conforms to the ISO 14443-A standard. The unique ID number of the card is associated with the employee’s name, position, and pass authority.

When employees pass the access control, the Idesco reader reads the unique code of the access control card, and sends the code information to the background data software through the wired network, and the data software determines whether the code has the permission to pass.

The I/Net software stores the time and date of data processing and the images recorded by the camera in the entrance hallway. If the employee’s access card is lost, he can log in to the background system to check the pass records, find out the time and place of loss, and other information, and then check the camera record accordingly to identify the person who stolen the card.

In the event of an emergency, the I/Net software can close all doors, even if there is an RFID card, it cannot be entered.

In addition, the solution can also monitor the windows in the building. When they are opened illegally, the detector on the window sends the intrusion information to the background through the wired network, and the background receives the information and brakes and sends an alarm. If the door is forced to open, or the open time is too long, the system will also send out a reminder message.

The Danish Industrial Organization uses I/Net software to configure the access card, for example, set the validity period, use permissions, etc. In order to improve the security of the solution, Idesco readers are equipped with a specific password. The reader can work normally at minus 40 degrees Celsius. The solution will be implemented in April this year.
