TAGSYS announces the adoption of RFID systems by clothing retailers Throttleman and Levi Strauss

RFID solution provider TAGSYS recently announced the successful implementation of RFID systems in two clothing retail stores, one is the Portuguese fashion house Throttleman, and a jeans giant Levi Strauss. These two applications evoke the bright prospects of Gen2 RFID technology in the application of single product labeling in the apparel retail industry.
Throttleman sells 1.5 million pieces of clothing products each year, with prices ranging from 10 Euros to 250 Euros. The company urgently needs to speed up the distribution process of goods from the factory to the distribution center. Since the adoption of the RFID system, the effect has been quite good. The average time of clothing staying in the distribution center is no more than 5 days, and the inventory replenishment is faster and more accurate.

When the items leave the factory, they are tagged with electronic tags, placed in boxes, and shipped to the Throttleman distribution center. After arriving at the distribution center, the boxes pass through a TAGSYS RFID reading channel to scan the labeled goods in the boxes one by one. Then the system automatically checks the goods according to the packing list. If the two do not match, the system triggers an alarm to notify the staff to open the container for inspection.
This system uses Gen2 RFID technology, the tags are supplied by Paxar, and the middleware is supplied by Sybase. The Portuguese local system integrator Creativesystems and TAGSYS jointly implemented this system.
Throttlemang deputy general manager Miguel Maya said, “In order to achieve our sales goals, we must speed up the time of receiving and delivering goods.” TAGSYS President Elie Simon added, “RFID reduces the phenomenon of empty containers, thereby increasing sales.”
Another TAGSY RFID application is the installation of RFID readers in 40 Levi Strauss stores in Mexico. This system also uses Gen2 technology, but the focus is on improving the checkout speed. The TAGSYS reader uses a special antenna that can locate the reading area, scanning objects in a pile without affecting nearby objects.
