Nokian Tire Company uses RFID technology to automate part of the tire production process. This may be the first and largest production application of UHF RFID system in Finland.
The new system is used to plan, track, and control the production of tire components. Nokian Tire Company is located in Nokia, Finland. After adopting the new system, the company can monitor the production process in real time to ensure the supply of raw materials for tire production.
This project in Finland is indeed a breakthrough and effective step to make full use of the advantages of RFID technology. Urpo Rossi, Manager of Quality Management Department of Nokian Tire Company, said: “After adopting the new system, our production process has also been updated. Now our production process is more effective and can also realize automatic reporting. Our tracking of products in production has reached a new level. Level, real-time visibility of raw material inventory. The new system is of great help to production management, and at the same time allows us to have more resources for process improvement and development.”
Trackway provides field software for tire companies, and EB provides RFID reader URP1000-ETSI. EB’s RFID reader is tuned through EB’s Identification Network network management technology, enabling it to work in harsh industrial environments. This management technology can prevent mutual interference in a dense environment of readers and achieve high data reading accuracy. The selected scheme and the highly effective architecture can also ensure a comprehensive upgrade of the system. The tire handling trolley used in the production process is affixed with Confidex Survivor’s RFID tag, which is particularly suitable for working in harsh environments and metal surfaces. Nokian Tire Company uses a total of 40 RFID readers and approximately 1,000 RFID tags in this project. (Text/Zhuang Biaowei)
