The 541-meter-high Liberty Building built on the former World Trade Center site in New York will have RFID tags embedded in the cement base to ensure that the base structure is reasonable and can withstand future buildings weighing 14,000 psi (pounds per square inch).

Wireless monitoring of cement base temperature is not a new technology, but such remote monitoring only appeared in 2003. The technology used in the Liberty Building is provided by Wake Inc.
The tag is powered by a battery, the reading distance can be up to 300 feet, and the life span is 6 years. The Liberty Building is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
