CSL provides China Construction Steel Corporation with a customized inventory management system to speed up production and increase the productivity of the entire plant.
On July 31, 2013, CSL, a global supplier of passive RFID products and active RTLS equipment based in Dallas, Texas, announced that a high-performance RFID inventory management system was successfully implemented in China Construction Steel Corporation. The solution is the only hybrid solution that combines passive and active RFID technology. It is provided by CSL and the solution integrator Aerospace Datalink Information Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
China Construction Steel Corporation needs a cost-effective, stable and reliable inventory management system to improve the speed and efficiency of its steel production. Previously, personnel from various departments of the entire factory could not share information such as the factory’s material inventory and production. In addition, it takes a long time for the staff to find a certain raw material or finished product on site, because most of the materials are not very related in appearance, and it is difficult to distinguish with the naked eye. The inventory distribution record is also difficult to systematize, so it is very difficult to find the specified materials. When the finished product arrives at the customer’s construction site, it often takes several months to sort the product. When the steel structure is installed, the management personnel cannot know how many raw materials are in use or whether the materials are used correctly. When the project is completed, the project cost calculation is tricky.
In order to simplify this labor-intensive process, CSL and Aerospace Datalink provide a custom RFID inventory management solution. For the site of this steel plant, CSL makes a complete assessment, and sets up the setting system reading device in the appropriate position. Use TOA (Time of arrival) technology to calculate the location of the tag (here, CS506 module). Because the steel plate material on site is very thin, the active tag is not applicable here, so low-cost passive anti-metal is selected For labels, factory personnel can read the label information through the CS101 handheld device, and the CS506 uses the positioning function to accurately find the required material. CS101 has a label search function, which makes it faster when looking for items. The RTLS system can know the location of CS101 by locating the active module CS506 on the CS101, and then scan the nearby passive anti-metal tags through CS101 to determine whether the area currently has materials that meet the work requirements.
“The multifunctional CSL product line includes passive UHF and active technology, which means that we can provide a reasonably priced hardware solution with the best performance,” said Jerry Garrett, chairman of CSL. With a comprehensive and accurate outdoor environment and real-time positioning system.”
Aerospace Digital Information Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. completed the integration of the entire system, and developed a unified Web-based platform for the information sharing issues of various departments. Different people can see different information according to different permissions. In addition, Aerospace Datalink has developed a special application for CS101, and the application is seamlessly integrated with the customer’s business process.
The design of the Aerospace Datalink software platform and the hardware integration of CSL make the RFID inventory management system more perfect. It can track the usage of raw materials in real time, accurately calculate the cost of each project, and guarantee China Construction Steel’s commitment to production quality.
China Construction Steel Corporation’s new RFID tracking system and software applications currently cover customers’ inventory management, material access management, finished product delivery and acceptance management, etc., and will gradually expand to a full set of processes such as contract management, supply management, and installation management. . The entire system can be seamlessly connected with third-party systems to facilitate later expansion and protect customer investment. (Compiled by RFID World Net)
