The system is provided by the integrator and software company Noanet. Argenti Lemon also uses the system to manage payroll and track inventory when processing and shipping goods.

Lemon growers use HF RFID wristband system to track the production of hired workers

Argenti Lemon is one of the largest growers and exporters of citrus fruits in Argentina. The company operates 24 plantations across the country and employs about 2,000 workers to pick fruits, and as many as 3,500 boxes of lemons are picked every day.

In the past, the company used traditional manual methods to manage employee productivity and corresponding salary scales. The workers first picked the best quality lemons and put them into baskets, and then showed them to the manager in the orchard to check and weigh them. The administrator manually wrote down the name of the worker and the weight of the fruit picked on the paper. The paper is then taken back to the office, where the information is entered into the computer, and the employee’s salary is calculated based on the amount of lemons picked.

Obviously, manual recording is very laborious. In addition, there are some workers who will send others to fill in, resulting in some false data.

According to Psion Teklogix’s Latin America sales director, Argenti Lemon started to cooperate with Noanet and Psion Teklogix for automation solutions about two years ago.

The HF RFID system comes in handy. The RFID system used this time includes Psion Teklogix’s 13.56 high-frequency tag (in accordance with ISO 15693 standard) and Workabout Pro handheld reader, which can help lemon growers scanFruit Basket LabelAnd employee badges to get the amount of lemons picked by workers every day. After reading the label, the lemons are packed in labeled boxes for tracking as they are processed and transferred to the port.

In early 2008, Argenti Lemon started labeling fruit boxes and baskets. At the same time, it began to provide RFID wristbands to every worker in Oceantina Orchard. The ID number of the wristband was connected with the person’s name and photo information stored in the company’s back-end system. After arriving in the orchard, the employees first show their wristbands and ID cards for inspection. The supervisor obtains the ID number with a handheld reader and transmits the relevant information of each worker to the back-end system through the Wi-Fi wireless connection, thereby establishing an electronic record .

After picking and loading the baskets, the field supervisor took the Workabout Pro reader to scan the ID code on the basket and the ID number of the employee’s wristband. At the same time, the weight of the lemon fruit is also recorded in the reader and corresponding to the relevant employee information. Workabout Pro sends relevant data to the back-end system via Wi-Fi wireless connection. There will be a laptop connected to the company’s core system on site, and supervisors can use this to check.

Since workers pick about 3,500 boxes of lemons on average every day, the system can save the supervisor’s time for verification.

After picking, the lemons are sorted and stored in boxes with a 13.56MHz label. Before preparing for shipment, it is necessary to use a handheld reader to read the tags multiple times to improve inventory visibility and ensure timely and accurate shipment of products. Before loading the vessel at the shipping port, the label will be read one last time to obtain information on the time and location of the product shipment.

Currently, the system has enabled the company to better track the work of its employees and manage wage distribution. Using this system, the company is also better able to ensure the efficiency of employees and can provide better quality fruits.
