NP fully implements RFID technology

NP uses RFID technology to provide comprehensive support for the company’s daily operations. NP uses RFID to fully track the goods during the entire logistics process from the factory to the store. Not only that, when the product enters the store and the customer pays, RFID also tracks it in real time and provides more convenient customer service.
The history of the Finnish NP Collection, called Naisten Pukutehdas, can be traced back to 1919. Through the continuous efforts of the fourth generation of family entrepreneurs in overseas markets, NP has established a firm foothold in the markets of Northern Europe, Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the Netherlands. 70% of NP’s products are sold in these areas through 450 retail stores. At the same time, NP Collection has 11 direct stores in Finland, and two stores in St. Petersburg, Russia were officially opened in 2009.
Fully integrated RFID supply chain solutions
In 2007, NP Collection launched the first pilot project of a comprehensive supply chain solution based on RFID technology in Northern Europe. The project, which was implemented in June 2007, is based on the purpose of improving the logistics efficiency of the company’s supply chain. The results of the project show that the Finnish distribution center has reduced the time it takes to receive goods by 75%. The automatic identification of goods through RFID and real-time goods inbound data update enable the distribution center to significantly reduce operating costs.
At the beginning of 2008, all 250,000 products of NP were tagged with RFID UHF Gen 2 tags. At the same time, the distribution center of the NP Group and the third-party logistics operator-Finland Post have integrated the infrastructure for reading RFID tags.
Through the real-time data information provided by the RFID solution, NP Colletiion can better understand the company’s problems and improve product production and inventory management in response to the problems. At the same time, it reduces logistics costs, losses and theft. Equally important, rich and detailed information helps sales staff optimize the sales of goods in retail stores and rationally plan the use of shelves to ensure that hot-selling goods will not be out of stock.
“Accurate data obtained in real time from our stores in Finland and Russia is that we have the ability to reduce our warehouse inventory by 30%. By equipped with an RFID logistics system, we have the opportunity to increase the inventory turnover of the store to 10.” Risto Rosendahl, NP President of Collection.
RFID enters at the retail level
Senso RFID retail environment solution integrated the first NP store in October 2008. After integrating this solution, the NP retail store in Hollola, Finland has become one of the most advanced smart stores in the world. Through the powerful functions provided by RFID, NP Collection makes the smart store develop into a shopping environment that realizes a truly interactive experience. Traditional retail stores use staff to conduct related sales to customers, while NP Collection can be achieved through smart interactive points installed in the store. In this way, stores have the opportunity to provide customers with a richer product portfolio, stimulate customers’ desire to buy, and thereby improve store sales.
“The automation of logistics has accelerated our handling of goods by 25% in the entire logistics process, and more of our staff’s time is spent on customer service and sales, which has increased the overall sales of our retail chain by 18%.” Risto Rosendahl , President of NP Collection.
In the fall of 2009, NP stores began to use more innovative technologies of Senso solutions, such as automatic receipt, smart fitting rooms, interactive points in the store, terminal POS machines, anti-theft systems and the use of handheld computers for inventory counting. A large amount of data information collected through the system is widely used by NP Collection. Designers and sales teams can adjust sales plans through the data collected at the interactive point, the distribution center can optimize the process based on the data collected in the supply chain, and retailers can also efficiently receive goods through automatic invoices. All data are statistically analyzed through the Business Set management software, and finally reported to the relevant management personnel.
After integrating the RFID retail environment solution, NP has gained a lot of new market value, reduced the situation of out of stock and vacant shelves, increased sales, better customer service, improved customer satisfaction, more accurate inventory counting, and more Efficient replenishment method.
Regarding how to prevent theft, Risto Rosendahl told us: “We have tested and the RFID integrated Senso anti-theft system has proven to be a solution that can be used in all our stores. When we add more readers and control points throughout the logistics chain , We will be able to reduce the incidence of theft to nearly zero.
Now is not the end
Mr. Risto Rosendahl pointed out: “Through this project, our company has received widespread publicity, and RFID retail environment solutions have also received widespread attention. People are talking about them and want to know more about the solutions. We are sure to add RFID solutions Further expand into our loyal customer plan.”
The smart store concept will continue to be extended to other NP stores in Finland and Russia. In the next few months, the company will integrate a new, RFID collaborative store-in-shop concept shopping environment in NP retail stores. This concept provides retailers’ customers with interactive points where they can view all NP product information. On this basis, NP hopes to provide automatic replenishment solutions to reduce shelf vacancy rate and improve staff efficiency.
“For us, integrating RFID is a strategic decision. Discovering new business value from new technologies will enable your company to gain significant benefits!” Risto Rosendahl, President of NP Collection.
