1. System overview
This system applies RFID technology to the identification and management of clothing individuals. Based on UHF RFID technology, it realizes an efficient work platform for fast collection, sorting, automatic inventory, and collection of clothes in the laundry industry, which greatly improves work efficiency and reduces error rates.

2. System design
Each hotel, including restaurants and several banquet areas, needs to use textile tablecloths, and there are hundreds of rooms that need to be provided with bathrobes, bed linens and towels, which are quite large. So many textiles have to leave the hotel every day, waiting to be washed, pressed and folded before returning to the hotel. With so many hotels, it is more difficult for washing shops to track the location and quantity of those textiles and confirm that they have all returned.
Some hotels hope to be able to track the number of times each item is cleaned, and estimate the service life of these items based on the number of cleanings. The hotel also hopes to receive an alert when the item reaches the maximum number of cleanings, indicating that the item may need to be replaced.
And our RFID application in the washing industry has just solved these needs.
This system is shown in the figure. First, install RFID antennas and readers on the doorways for clothing in and out of each customer hotel. The readers transmit data to the client server in the hotel. RFID antennas, readers, and client servers are also installed in the doorways of each laundry shop in the same way. The client server in the hotel and the client server in the laundry are connected to the data center server.
First, RFID tags are installed on each piece of laundry, and the staff writes customer information and clothing information into electronic tags, which are stored in an independent network-based software system.
When the items need to leave the hotel and be sent to the laundry for cleaning, the items are piled up on a trolley and pass through a doorway. An RFID reader with four antennas is installed on the doorway. The reader will obtain the ID number of each item at any moment when the item passes through the doorway, and transmit these ID numbers to the back-end system in the hotel through a cable connection, and then store the data, indicating that the item has been sent for cleaning, and set up Items sent to wash orders.
When the laundry from each hotel is delivered to the cleaning shop, it also passes through a doorway equipped with an RFID antenna and a reader. The reader transmits the ID information of the items read to the laundry server to store the data. So, which hotels have how many clothes to wash in this laundromat, and you can check the number of textiles when they leave the hotel and the number of clothes that enter the laundromat.
After sorting, it enters the washing process. After washing, the clothes are sorted and packaged. The electronic label information of all the clothes in the bag is read through the reader again, and the data is checked with the corresponding washing task list, and then sent to Various hotels.
When the laundry returns items, they still have to go through their respective portals. The software compares the ID number of the returned item tag with the ID number of the item sent for cleaning to determine whether they have been returned and the quantity is correct, and stores the information again. Business reports can be run in hotels and laundry shops. The report content records, for example, the frequency of cleaning items, the time of cleaning, and which ones have not been returned.

2) The UHF RFID tag’s feature of instant multi-body reading without touching it can greatly improve the work efficiency of clothing management. By sewing each piece of UHF washable RFID tags with detailed information into the clothing, through tracking and positioning, not only the specific location and status of each piece of clothing can be grasped, but also additional information such as the number of uses and replacement period. It is clear at a glance, so that the management of clothes, etc. is more efficient and accurate.
3) It conforms to the international standard ISO/IEC18000-6C “EPCglobal Class1 Generation2” of UHF RFID. It can use the readers and antennas currently on the market to read information, so the system construction will be easier.
