 1. Introduction to RFID technology

RFID technology is a high-tech automatic identification technology that emerged in the 1980s and is listed as one of the ten important technological projects in the new century by high-tech related departments. However, it was not until the 1980s that RFID technology and its derivative products really entered the commercial field. After the 1990s, the standard issue of RFID technology has gradually received attention, and the theory of RFID technology has been further improved. Products derived from RFID technology have begun to be widely used, and gradually entered medical, real estate, transportation, telecommunications, finance, ID card and other related fields.

In recent years, my country has begun to realize large-scale pig raising. At the same time, the occurrence of swine diseases, especially swine fever, has become a serious obstacle to the realization of the large-scale swine industry in my country. The Measures for the Management of Livestock and Poultry Marks and Breeding Archives passed at the 14th Executive Meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture came into effect on July 1, 2006. Hereinafter referred to as “the method”. The promulgation of this method is of great significance to further standardize the production and operation of animal husbandry and strengthen the quality and safety of livestock and poultry products. The management stipulates that the identification of livestock and poultry shall implement one mark for one animal, and the code shall be unique. Therefore, the work of livestock and poultry identification coding is a complicated systematic project and must be placed in a key position. This is a need for the emergence of RFID technology, which shows that the development prospects of RFID technology are quite vast.

 2. The working principle of RFID technology

After the tag enters the magnetic field, if it receives a special radio frequency signal from the reader, it can use the energy obtained by the induced current to send the product information stored in the chip (ie Passive Tag, passive tag or passive tag), or actively send it A signal of a certain frequency (ie Active Tag, active tag or active tag), the reader reads and decodes the information, and then sends it to the central information system for relevant data processing.

 3. Application of RFID technology in animal identification

The so-called animal identification is to install electronic tags on animals, and perform one-to-one with the animals according to the unique ID code of the animal electronic tags, and the animals can be tracked and managed anytime and anywhere.

How to use: When an animal enters the recognition range of the RFID reader, or when the breeder is holding a handheld terminal reader close to the animal, the reader will automatically recognize the relevant information of the animal.

According to the relevant regulations of the international standards ISO11784 and ISO11785, the identification code structure and standards for the use of RFID for animals are carried out. For example, ISO11784 stipulates that the animal identification code consists of 64 bits (8 bytes) in total. ISO11785 specifies the transmission method of electronic tag data and the specifications of the reader.

Methods of installing electronic tags for animals: electronic tags with strong item type, ear tag type, injectable type and pill type.

 4. Application of RFID technology in pig industry

According to China’s national conditions, Lu Changhua of Jiangsu Agricultural University, etc., under the funding of the 863 Program of the Tenth Five-Year Plan, comprehensively applied animal identification, two-dimensional code, RFID technology electronic identification and one-dimensional bar code label technology, and combined network technology and database technology with traditional breeding The combination of pig industry and slaughtering and processing has built a traceability system for pork monitoring that suits China’s national conditions.

With the continuous development of China’s economy and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, the requirements for the quality of life are also rising. Of course, the requirements for the quality of pork are also increasing. Pig farmers can use computer technology to make the management of pig companies more scientific and accurate, and can create higher benefits in the process of large-scale management.

In summary, the wide application range of rfid technology has brought objective benefits to enterprises, and the development of rfid technology in the future will be limitless.
