The reporter learned today that at present, 30,000 pigs in Sichuan, a major pig breeding province, have been implanted with RFID chips, making them the first batch of “safe pigs” to be monitored by electronic tags throughout the process.
Sichuan is the largest pig production area in my country,
In 2004, 81.51 million live pigs were sold for slaughter, and about 20 million live pigs were transferred abroad. Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Russia and other countries also purchased a large amount of pork in the province. The province’s export of live pigs is worth 120 million US dollars. In order to solve the safety monitoring in all aspects of the production and sales of live pigs, the province’s joint Shihua Development Company adopts RFID technology to manage the province’s live pig industry to ensure that consumers can eat “safe pigs” and “safe meat”. As a result, this application case has become the largest RFID application project in the world (RFID World Net Note: The largest domestic animal identification project).
This innovative technology, called “RFID Livestock Safety and Epidemic Prevention Information Management System”, uses hardware equipment from the American company Ipico, coupled with core software independently developed by Shihua Kai, and all pig farms, processing plants, slaughterhouses, etc. Link information will be recorded in the relevant RFID chip and computer information system, and will be processed and reported centrally through computer terminals at the township level, county-level data centers, and provincial-level data centers. Transparent and efficient feedback, completely solve the trouble of problematic pigs and problematic meat.
It is reported that this technology will be promoted throughout Sichuan Province, and the annual use of RFID chips will exceed 100 million. News from Shihuakai also indicated that the technology will gradually be promoted nationwide and be applied to the monitoring and management of poultry such as chickens and ducks.
