With the rapid development of the city and the improvement of citizens’ living standards, the number of various vehicles in the city continues to increase, followed by a corresponding increase in the demand for parking spaces in the city’s main commercial and residential areas. Shanghai has already been in 2005. It is planned to establish large-scale three-dimensional parking lots in several major transportation hubs throughout the city. The construction of large parking lots will help to improve the tightness of parking spaces, but at the same time it will also bring about management problems for large parking lots. For example, in the parking lot of Shanghai Gateway Plaza, there are nearly 1,200 parking spaces. Owners who occasionally park their cars often spend more than half an hour searching for their vehicles because they are confused about the original parking position.

In order to achieve real-time detection of parking spaces in large parking lots, that is, to detect whether a vehicle is parked in a certain parking space, a variety of technologies have been developed. Among them, the ultrasonic detection technology is the most widely used: the ultrasonic probe is placed directly above the parking space. Calculate and adjust the distance between the probe and the ground. If a vehicle is parked, the ultrasonic probe can detect that the distance between the probe and the “ground” (car roof) has been changed, and inform the background that a vehicle has parked in the parking space. The detection accuracy is relatively high. This technology is widely used in foreign countries and some developed cities, but it has certain shortcomings in its application. First, the problem of ultrasonic scattering and reflection is more serious, such as tilted car windows. It is likely that ultrasonic waves will be reflected when parking is not in place. The signal reception of adjacent parking spaces will cause misjudgment; the second is installation, the ultrasonic probe must be installed directly above each parking space, the construction is not only large, but also unsightly; the third is the high cost, imported probes (domestic probes are often not up to Technical requirements) The price is around 200-300 US dollars, cost pressure severely limits the promotion of this program.

Based on the above-mentioned needs, Shanghai Xiupai Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. launched eFlux®, a wireless vehicle detector with RFID technology combined with geomagnetic induction, which can effectively solve the problems of parking space detection and statistics in large parking lots. eFlux® is designed based on the micro-power technology platform of Xiupai μWatt®, which can be maintenance-free for about five years, and has certain advantages in terms of performance, cost, system installation and maintenance.

Features of eFlux®

 High precision: The geomagnetism is basically constant within a certain range, but large ferromagnetic objects will cause huge disturbances to the earth’s magnetic field. The influence of geomagnetism will reach a fraction of the intensity of geomagnetism, so the use of geomagnetic sensors to detect vehicles has extremely high sensitivity, accuracy and high.

 Convenient installation and maintenance, no need for excavation and construction, and little damage to the ground.

 The geomagnetic sensor uses the changing magnetic field when ferromagnetic objects pass through to detect, and is not affected by the climate.

 The two-way high-speed data exchange can be realized between the detector and the receiver, and there is no need to worry about the simultaneous data exchange between each detector and the receiver.

 High reliability, working temperature -40℃~85℃, moisture-proof and shock-proof.

 High anti-interference: no special requirements for various interference sources.

 The global open ISM microwave frequency band does not require application and payment.

Parking lot detection scheme

The components of the plan include eFlux® to detect whether a vehicle has parked, a receiver to receive and forward the signal, and application software. eFlux® is buried under the surface of the parking space. Whenever a vehicle stops, it detects the arrival of the vehicle based on the changes in the magnetic field around the ground. After the signal is stable, the signal is sent to the receiver installed in the appropriate position. Similarly, when the vehicle leaves, eFlux® can also detect this information based on the change in the magnetic field and inform the receiver. The same receiver can detect the usage status of about 20 parking spaces at the same time.

The receiver (reader) can transmit the received signal to the background through 485/232, etc. The background application software refreshes the parking space occupancy status according to the signal, so that the system can accurately grasp the actual occupancy of each parking space. Maximizing the use of resources, in conjunction with parking guidance screens, can play a role in dispersing traffic and reducing congestion during peak traffic hours. At the same time, the problem of “finding a car” in some super-large parking lots is easily solved. When a vehicle enters the parking lot, the system automatically allocates parking spaces and drives and parks in accordance with the directions specified by the system, so that car owners can accurately find their parking location.
