Analysis of adhesive die-cutting glue overflow and solutions (part 2)
[ad_1]
Die cutting is an indispensable link in the processing of stickers, and it is also an important link that is most easily overlooked by the technical department of the processing company.
Last week we shared with you the overflow of glue during the die cutting process in the manifestation of adhesive die-cutting. Today we will continue to talk with you about the situation of glue overflow after die-cutting and common solutions.
The edge overflow of the finished label is related to the winding tension of the finished roll after die cutting, the shape of the label, and the temperature and humidity of the storage environment. This kind of overflow phenomenon will show obvious regularity and directionality on the label (usually in the MD direction). Overflow of glue on one side).
01. Reduce the winding tension of die-cutting and slitting finished rolls
After the small rolls are die-cut to discharge waste, the squeezing force generated by the winding tension is concentrated on a single label. If the winding tension is set too large, the glue on the edge of the label will be excessively squeezed and overflowed, and even slippage of the label on the backing paper will occur, which will cause the label to overflow.
Judgment of the winding tension of the finished small roll: pick up the small roll after die-cutting and slitting with both hands, and use the thumb to push the end face up and down at will, which can be regarded as the proper winding tension.
02. Shaped label
Due to the inconsistent distribution of the winding tension in the axial direction, excessive local tension will occur, resulting in local overflow of the label. A square label with a small area is also prone to partial glue overflow due to greater pressure under the same pressure.
Recommendations for die-cutting and rewinding of special-shaped labels, quality inspection and rewinding:
1. Adopt reverse winding method to rewind;
2. Rewinding with 6-inch paper core tube;
3. For special-shaped labels (such as circles, etc.), it is recommended to keep a certain width of die-cut waste on both sides;
4. For finished label winding, consider wrapping foam cotton/high-elastic sponge on the surface of the paper core tube.
03. Storage environment temperature and humidity
The label processing and storage environment temperature is recommended to be controlled in the range of 23+/-2 degrees Celsius, and the humidity should be controlled in the relative range of 55+/-5%. The high temperature and high humidity environment will greatly increase the fluidity of the adhesive, so Summer and rainy season are the frequent seasons for die-cutting overflow problems.
There are many types of self-adhesive glues and face materials, and different glues and face materials have different die-cutting performance. It is recommended to communicate with the material supplier about die-cutting tools and appropriate die-cutting processes to reduce die-cutting before producing self-adhesive labels. Contamination of the label surface caused by spilled glue to meet the application needs of end customers.
