1. Project background
Due to the late start of modern technology and poor foundation in my country’s jewelry industry, most domestic jewelry companies only have small and medium scale, with outdated equipment, backward technology and technology, and low production efficiency. Their survival depends on the huge domestic market demand, not their own strength and competitiveness. The opening up of China’s jewelry market has brought unprecedented opportunities for the development of China’s jewelry industry. At the same time, it has also created severe challenges and pressures on the increasingly competitive domestic jewelry industry. my country’s jewelry industry urgently needs to introduce advanced production and management technologies to improve its competitiveness.
In the management of the jewellery industry, there is always the problem of counter-counting at monopoly points. As the jewellery industry, because the products sold every day are relatively high-value jewellery, the daily inventory of goods is very important, and the inventory of the goods is very important. It can understand the sales of various types of products in time, which is helpful to complete the data analysis accepted by the company’s management on the market of various products. At the same time, it can also check the number of jewelry to reduce product loss and management errors. problem.
Suzhou Xinhui IoT Technology Co., Ltd. launched based onRFIDThe jewellery inventory system management program based on radio frequency identification technology can provide a series of technical solutions for jewelry inventory, data analysis, and safety management.
2. System overview
This system is composed of RFID electronic tags that correspond to a single jewelry one-to-one.Reader, Mobile on-site inventory equipment, background computer and system management software, as well as related network link equipment and network data interface.
The difficulty of this system lies in the integration of the hardware system (the key is the choice of the reader), the selected reader must meet the following requirements:
a. Fixed reader: requires high power, good anti-collision performance, and low power consumption for jewelry inventory.
b. Mobile reader: fast and stable reading and writing speed, used for jewelry quotation.
c. Countertop reader: used for electronic label data entry.
Three, equipment selection
The application of RFID in the jewelry industry mainly has two aspects: warehouse management and personnel management. To select an RFID system suitable for jewelry, you must consider the characteristics of jewelry, business requirements, and management cost control:
1. Consider from the characteristics of jewelry
Jewelry is a metal product, which means that RFID tags will be used in metal environments. At this stage, there are three methods for marking metal parts. One is the method of isolating the metal and the tag used in high and low frequencies, which is relatively expensive; the other is to design the tag reasonably so that the tag antenna is at an appropriate distance from the metal surface; The third type is to attach the label, including the method of hanging the label and carrying the label on the non-metallic tray or container of the label. Since there is a brand with jewelry information printed on the jewelry, the label can be directly attached to the brand, so various frequencies can be applied, and the detuning of the RFID tag on the metal surface does not affect the application.
2. Consider from business needs
Whether it is warehouse management or personnel management, it is necessary to read a large number of tags at the same time in all directions. This requires that the RFID system must have a faster reading speed, and there is no read label and no directionality restriction. Although the low-frequency system has no directional limitation, the reading and writing speed is slow. The reading and writing speed of UHF and microwave systems can meet the requirements, but there are some directional limitations. Only the high frequency can meet the requirements in the reading speed, and there is no reading. Take the directional development of the label.
3. Consider from the perspective of management cost control
The active tag has a long recognition distance, but its life span is only 2 to 5 years, the price is relatively high, and the maintenance is inconvenient. Passive tags are light in weight, small in size, and have a very long life of up to 15 years and are cheap, but the reading distance is limited. Although the application of active tags can reduce the number of readers installed, its own price and maintenance costs are much higher than passive tags, and the weight and volume of active tags are not suitable for use on jewelry brands.
Comprehensive analysis of various aspects, the high-frequency passive RFID system has the characteristics of small tag size, low cost, high reading speed, moderate reading distance, and strong ability to resist metal interference. It is suitable for application in the jewelry industry.
Four, system characteristics
1) Jewelry storage: After purchasing the jewelry, write the jewelry information into the label, package the labelled jewelry, and put it in the designated display cabinet.
2) Putting the product on the shelf: Display all the jewelry information on the display cabinet dynamically on the screen, and display the jewelry information on the display cabinet in real time.
3) Advanced consumer experience: fast positioning, able to automatically filter the required products; when the product leaves the container, display a wealth of product information; improve the speed and quality of after-sales service through the sold jewelry label.
4) Real-time monitoring: the use of jewelry inventory can be used to monitor, control and track labeled jewelry, to achieve rapid inventory real-time tracking and intelligent sales management.
5) Storefront anti-theft: In the process of sales, transfer, consignment or safe replenishment, there is any abnormal operation, the system will send out an alarm.
6) Data mining: Automatic analysis based on each customer’s purchase business or query business.
Five, system management
1) Single piece of jewelry management: equip each piece of jewelry with RFID tags, and enter key information such as the material and weight of this piece of jewelry in the tag in advance.
2) Employee management: Each employee is issued an employee card, which is used to record the employee’s behavior in the main server to ensure that the employee does not trigger an alarm when they touch the jewelry.
3) Display management: According to the actual situation on site, RFID antennas are arranged in various display areas such as original showcases, display trays, and display racks in the store. For example, if employees need to put jewelry in a display tray for customers to watch, they can take the jewelry out of the RFID smart display cabinet and put it in the RFID smart display tray for a one-minute display. Before this piece of jewelry is put back into the smart display cabinet, the antenna installed in the center of the smart display tray will monitor the tray. Once the jewelry leaves the safe area, an alarm will be triggered to remind the central management staff, showcase employees and security guards to pay attention to the problematic area immediately.
4) Security management: If the operation is not handled according to the normal procedures set in advance, and the jewelry tag or employee’s work card is not registered in the corresponding RFID intelligent management link, then any abnormal jewelry handling behavior will trigger an alarm.
5) Inventory management: The warehousing inventory program in the RFID jewelry management application will be activated. The employee will first place each set of jewelry on the smart inventory table equipped with RFID equipment, and the RFID equipment will automatically identify each item to confirm each item. The specific quantity and situation of the jewels, and each jewel that has been registered and recorded is put into the safe by the clerk. The system uses a dedicated RFID smart antenna installed in front of the safe door to ensure that the goods have been returned to the safe, and confirms that the jewelry transfer has been completed before the safe door is closed and the system is cut off. At the same time, employees who perform specific operations must also swipe their personal employee cards to ensure that responsibilities are assigned to each person.
6) Customer management: Humanized care for VIP customers and improve customer satisfaction.
7) Monitoring and management: The asset tracking application can also monitor the transfer and delivery of goods between stores, as well as customer returns, and other services through RFID readers.
6. Implementation effectiveness
Using our Xinhui IoT read-write equipment and corresponding antennas, the RFID jewelry management system trial operation user feedback is as follows:
a. Speed up jewelry inventory: the monthly jewelry inventory time of a single store (estimated by the number of 6,000 pieces of jewelry) has been reduced from 4 working days to 0.5 working days;
b. Improve jewelry quotation efficiency: The solution of using CF interface readers and PDAs to transition from traditional dedicated and professional quotation to ordinary employees can make quotations, which greatly saves the human resources of various jewelry companies and reduces the risk of misjudgment;
c. Realize intelligent sales management: using smart shelves, it can automatically identify the number of jewels in the shelves, reflect the sales situation of the day in real time, and provide great convenience for management planning.
