With the continuous development of the retail industry, the dismantling and picking process has become one of the keys to the efficiency of logistics operations, and the emergence of the electronic picking label system has truly realized the efficient operation of dismantling and picking.

  Figure 1 System framework

The electronic picking label system (also known as the light picking system) is widely used in the zero picking process. Each electronic tag is installed on one or more cargo positions, and its main function is to guide the pickers to quickly and accurately find the cargo space through the light on the label, and perform accurate operations according to the content displayed on the label screen. Automated manual assistance system. This system is especially efficient when used in a wide variety of goods, irregular, and diversified processes.

For some work processes with a longer picking process and a higher picking frequency, four or five people or even more people are often required to pick the goods at the same time in the same aisle. The indicator light of the electronic picking label cannot prompt multiple people at the same time, so it cannot meet the requirements of this operation process. This article will introduce how to use electronic picking tags combined with RFID systems to effectively improve multi-person picking operations.

  Case execution process

Hardware foundation

The first is the installation of hardware facilities. Refer to the system framework (Figure 1). Each position is equipped with an electronic picking tag, and each electronic picking tag is matched with a high-frequency RFID reader. The reader passes through each electronic picking The label’s I/O port is connected to the entire system (Figure 2). Each picker carries a smart ring or bracelet with a built-in high-frequency RFID electronic tag (Figure 3). The beginning of each aisle is equipped with a functional label. The hardware of this label is the same as the labels on other cargo positions, but its main function is not to light up prompts, but to manage picking tasks. The specific process is as follows (Figure 4).

  specific process

Task registration. First, after receiving the task from the main station, the operator goes to the designated lane for work. After arriving in the lane, he first logs his smart bracelet in the function label. At this time, the function label will light up, and the color of the light indicates the operator’s Corresponding color. If the red light is on, it means that only the cargo space with the red light in this lane needs to be picked. There are seven colors in total, and up to seven people can work at the same time. At the same time, the display screen on the electronic picking label displays information such as the number of operations in the lane, the name of the picker, the number of the turnover box, and the order number for verification and preparation (Figure 5). After tapping the label reminder light again, the roadway operation starts, and the cargo position lights up in sequence.

Picking operations. The operator finds and picks the goods according to his own light color. The electronic picking label will display the name of the product, the picture of the product, the name of the picker, and the number of picks (Figure 6).

  Figure 6 Picking interface

The names and pictures of the goods are to prevent the goods from being placed in the wrong place, and the names of the pickers to prevent the wrong goods from being placed. After the picking is completed, move the smart bracelet close to the card reader, and the light will be turned off only if the ID is correct, that is, the wrong person can not turn off the light when picking the goods. After the light is off, the display screen will prompt the next position to be picked and the remaining tasks in this aisle. If the turnover box is full after this picking is completed, and you need to change to the next turnover box, the label interface will remind you to change the box. (Picture 7)

If there are two people who need to pick at a certain position at the same time, the second person will start to queue up, skip this position, and the next picking position will light up. After the picking of the current location is completed, the label will prompt to return to the previous location for picking. (Figure 8) When the entire tunnel operation is completed, the last task label will display “This tunnel task is completed, please go to the XX area to trigger the next task”, and the operator will log in to the task at the next tunnel function label and continue the operation. (Picture 9)

This solution uses a color screen that can display text and pictures to display electronic picking labels. Compared with traditional labels that can only display numbers, it is more suitable for more complex operations such as multi-person picking. Through various prompts, the task instructions can be well completed and second confirmed to ensure the accuracy and efficiency in the complex process.

Program effects and advantages

Compared with a PDA, the electronic picking label frees hands, provides clear guidance on lights, Chinese, and pictures, and reduces the threshold for operators and the time and cost of operator training. The combination of electronic picking tags and RFID solves the conflict of multiple people picking and grabbing goods at the same time, and the picking efficiency is greatly improved.

This solution is a good combination of RFID and electronic picking tags, combining a variety of Internet of Things technologies in a specific process to produce an effect of 1+1>2. For some companies with higher cost control requirements, you can also use the scan code + electronic picking label to achieve similar effects. This solution uses the smart bracelet as the operator ID and the card reader as the reading device. If the code scanning method is adopted, the barcode can be used as the ID and the wireless code scanning gun can be used as the reading device, achieving similar effects.

Qualcomm’s picking label system has continued to develop in the basic light-on reminder function. Through the information interaction of the color screen and the access of peripherals, various diversified operation processes are realized, which provides unlimited possibilities for the industry. On this basis, we continue to develop new processes and technologies. At present, they have been combined with infrared sensors, RFID readers, electronic scales and other equipment to develop smart seeding walls, smart picking trucks, smart material weighing shelves, etc., which will be assembled in the future Hundreds of advanced IoT technologies will develop more advanced IoT smart devices to benefit the industry.
