 1. Project background introduction

In the physical training assessment, it is necessary to record the exercise time and ranking of the examiner from the starting point to the end point. Generally, the ancient and classic method is to manually count the time with a stopwatch. With the development of technology, RFID timing laps appeared. With the assessment system, it is used to count laps for physical training.

The professional sports chip timing system has unparalleled superiority for competitions where there are a large number of athletes, the competition environment is complicated, and the competition results are too demanding.

The use of chip timing system not only saves a lot of manpower for the organizer, but also provides the most accurate performance report and the most valuable data analysis in a short time.

When the sports timing chip carried by the athlete passes the timing carpet, the carpet antenna sends the received response signal of the sports timing chip to the reading head connected to it, and the reading head records the current time and chip-related information to complete the timing function.

Competition results can be displayed in real time, and referees or training organizers can view, edit, and print the results through the sports timing system software installed on the computer.

It has always been a big problem to accurately record the number of laps traveled by each examiner: For many years, referees have been recording by means of artificial chessboards and manual drawing of tables. In addition to consuming a lot of manpower and material resources, human error is inevitable. Affect the accuracy of grades. In order to accurately judge the ranking and results of the examiners, to ensure the openness, fairness and justice of the results. We combined the high technology of today’s radio frequency identification to develop a professional sports automatic lap counting system suitable for middle and long distance competitions.

 2. System composition and realization principle

System composition: It is composed of three important hardware products, an electronic timing issuing system, an electronic intelligent timing system, a timing chip tag for assessors, and timing management software.

As shown in the figure, the hardware composition of the three deployment points of the system

a) Starting point: Consists of an electronic command system, including a wireless electronic starting gun, equipped with a speaker amplifier, and electronic command host equipment

b) Monitoring point: RFID electronic timing host device, carpet induction antenna (there can be multiple monitoring points or no monitoring points)

c) End point: consists of RFID electronic timing host equipment, carpet induction antenna, wireless router, and computer running timing management software

Realization principle: The system uses advanced RFID technology, computer information processing and other high-tech combined with physical training assessment, which is convenient for assessors to carry without affecting their status. When assessors carry RFID timing chip tags through the carpet induction antenna, they can read and write The antenna of the device can detect the information of the passed card immediately, and the reader sends the read card number to the connected computer. The computer obtains the relevant information of the examiner and uses special software to process the information. The system software corresponds the collected card information with the corresponding athlete information and counts the situation of the game, so as to realize the purpose of automatic lap counting and automatic timing of long-distance events.

First of all, the wireless electronic command system controls the loudspeaker and sends out the start command. At the same time, the electronic timing host device synchronously receives the start command and starts timing. Secondly, after the examiner passes the monitoring point and then passes the end point, the RFID electronic timing host device senses and recognizes and counts the laps. Finally, when the assessor finishes the assessment and runs past the finish line, the system will count the final score and save the historical record.

By changing the positions of the starting point, the monitoring point and the end point, it can adapt to the lap counting situation of the middle and long distance running at different distances.

  3. System hardware

a) Electronic starting gun

When running, the starting command is issued through the starting handle or starting gun, and the sending command is transmitted wirelessly to the electronic starting host system and to the connected speaker amplifier to complete the starting action.

  b) Electronic issuing host

The starting system uses an external speaker device to sound to remind the contestants to start or start, and simultaneously sends out a flash signal for hand timing and other starting, instead of traditional gun firing. The system is equipped with a battery inside and can work without a power source. It is easy to use and carry.

 c) RFID electronic timing host equipment

Adopt dual frequency technology, low frequency trigger, high frequency receive data, improve timing accuracy and test number

 e) Timing carpet/induction coil

The dual-frequency motion timing induction coil needs to be connected to the electronic smart timing host to complete the timing function. When the timing induction coil receives the response signal from the dual-frequency timing chip tag, the reading head records the current time and the tag ID number. The timing induction coil can be used in various environments and is waterproof, and can be used for running, cycling, and ice and snow sports; the carpet is quite strong and durable.

The carpet coil contains an independent induction loop (125kHz to activate and wake up the tag) and a receiving loop (2.45G to receive the tag response signal). Sometimes the resonant frequency of the loop will be affected by surrounding metal objects (such as reinforced concrete, water pipes, etc.), thereby affecting the reading distance. For this reason, a special auto-tuning circuit is included in the reading head to minimize this effect.
